Putting the wheels on the boat - seems a strange thing to be doing...

My tipi poles arrived yesterday.
The next morning you will wake up pretty much your old self except that a very unusual 16 hours will have been added to your store of life experience.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Had my current boss sign off on my vacation request.
Met with a perspective boss at another location and had her agree in principle to the time off should I get the position. I will end the interview on Tuesday reaffirming my wish to take the time off in front of the interview panel (witnesses) but phrasing it somehow that it's not a prerequisite for my taking the position. Both current and perspective are the same company and I haven't taken a day off since I started a year and a half ago so I'm 95% certain I may actually be coming home this year (and boy do I need want it).
Got my ticket email.
I'll probably be a more frequent poster in this thread come Wednesday (you've been warned).

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Man I hope it works out! Last year, after a 4 year absence, I finally was able to go; I had a ticket, early entry pass, all my stuff set up, but I got a new job in July - and the only other person there who can do my job was already scheduled for vacation on Burning Man week! There was absolutly NO way to get the time off and keep the job.
Usually if you come in the door telling them you've already got "something" scheduled you can get the time, probably unpaid but so what.

Thanks folks, I appreciate it. I think I'm good. I probably actually even have the position (if they don't happen to read ePlaya, put two and two together and are not willing to hire someone who writes perspective when they mean prospective
).
Good thing word choice isn't as imperative in the kitchen (barring any fryer/hand-washing sink mishaps, of course).

Re: One Item for BM a Day
My friend bought chicken fingers from the grocery store once and it had deep frying instructions "put fingers in fryer". Didn't specify chicken fingers or human fingers, had a picture of it but that was two phones ago and I don't have it anymore. I always thought it was entertaining.Sic Pup wrote:Thanks folks, I appreciate it. I think I'm good. The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Ordered bungie balls, 100 of them(hope I got the right length-6") and a grommet press.
Kind of a double-duty item, I can use it on some crafting/sewing projects also.
Trying to talk a friend of mine into going, but it would count on him not working and then finding him a ticket.

So the theme this year is like a giant camp out in the desert? With people bringing lots of shit from all over? uh.. -Marscrumbs

I think you should make a drink with the dust. Unfortunately cement mixer is already taken...unjonharley wrote:The stainless steel stove is out of storage and cleaned.. Had to disassemble, clean, reclean (with lite oil) and reassemble..

Baring any more last minute unreadiness... Today is FINALLY the day I pick up the land yacht!
Oh...and you should bring that playa back to the playa... Trace no leaves or something like that.
although... After 3 years apart, maybe they won't get along with the other dust particles anymore. I mean, at the absolute least they will have a helluva time with sunburn after 3 years in the dark! Hmmmm... Maybe that wasn't such a good idea after all. n/m

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Thanks!
It's been a couple of weeks of stomach churning excitement to get to this point. This summer my rusty welding skills are gonna get one helluva workout on my RUSTY new home to get it ready to make the 2700 mile trip from here to there. Not sure where we're goin from there, one step at a time...
Hopefully the cargo and holding tank boxes aren't completely shot... And HOPEFULLY they're the only things that are completely rusted out!!
I'm thinking I need to bring a special hat to drive it home or something. The Atomic Turqoise Mohawk might be good enough for the maiden voyage though?

ALL SINNERS MUST DO PENNANTS!!!!!!!!
So gather up all your old useless pvc.

Get pennentent and make them with a sleeve on top.

Slide the pvc into the sleeves.

Now you can string them or ziptie or wire them up anywhere!!!

With the "Cargo Cult" theme, you can draw whatever you wish would return on them!

Re: One Item for BM a Day
YAY!!! Just now, one week before being gone for a month, I got the tickets shipping notification!!! WHEW!!!
(I was getting a tad nervous, here...)
Now, if only my passport would get here. They returned the whole application for its renewal because on my photos, a: there was an *invisible* shadow on it, and b: I had a bit of a forbidden smile. (I'm a compulsive smiler... born that way... can't help it!) That same day, I had more photos taken (it took 5 tries before they got it right) and returned the whole package by priority mail, before the outgoing mail deadline..(that's not cheap, either!) Fingers crossed for it to arrive by Thursday...
I'm really hoping to see all three of my toadly ossum sisters and my sweet Mom! I should have no trouble getting into Canada, but it's getting back into the States that would be awkward, to say the least, without my Cdn. passport.
Settling in for a wonderful, productive weekend, not thinking about all that, while I work on Playa shwag and partake of assorted goodies. (I'll leave that last bit up to your collective imagination.)

are the pads so it clears your truck roof?
if so, make sure the floor is made to be suspended like that. Campers usually ride, and are made to ride, sitting flat in the bed of a truck, so, the center of the floor area may be flexy/spongy without support.
post us picks and stuff.
