Is Africa a country or a continent? Seems the the source of these comments come from two movie makers that set up a blog they claimed was written by a news reporter. All made up. So at least those 'stupid comments' don't seem to be attributable to her.

But I'm trying to refrain from vomiting listening to her speech at the Republican Governor's conference.

this is opinion, dr. placebo. opinion. what you wrote is opinion as well. you could go through any politician's record and pick out items that appear to be inconsistencies, untruths, and extremism. i agree that palin was not ready for prime time ... but i have watched liberal democrats tear apart anyone they don't like for years ... i know the methods...

i posted that link because paglia is a liberal feminist democrat and obama supporter who actually tries to understand conservatives, instead of just dismissing them as stupid, evil, greedy, &c. i know very well that the left has turned on her ... it's easier to attack than to think ...

yes, and this has been Sarah palin's Modus Operandi the entire time.

i'll say it again....for clarity....

it is the job of the VP candidate to attack the opponent, simon ... i had some fun watching biden attack his longtime friend ... but of course, nobody paid any attention to that. the media focused on attacking palin, and her attacks on the chosen one... heaven forbid, that anyone should attack the messiah ...

the attacks on palin started with lies, and never got much better.

i also like some other stuff in paglia's article, of course ... like her comments about ayres and dohrn ... i saw the weather underground film she mentioned, years ago in a theater ... if more people had seen it, perhaps that little connection would have caused a little more of a problem.

And look at how Simon so graviously demonstrates this for you. I'd say you owe him a bit of thanks, littleflower, but he'd probably have a coronary trying to find a type-face large enough* to scream back at you(or me) in outrage.

Camille makes a good point--albeit one that might've come too late. I suspect that Coronation Day will be followed rather quickly with legislative muzzles for dangerous ideas--it's a hot topic among Ds in Congress right now. I don't expect that the 'rubber chicken' circuit will be very open once those measures go through.

And they WILL go through--enough votes have been created to get Franken that seat.

CHANGE is on it's way.

*maybe something so big that you can only fit one letter per post? I'll ask my kids, they're really into that kinda thing--well, aren't all kids?

Actually, what Alaskans and Republicans don't like is criminals. We don't tend to keep supporting them--even if they get off or are simply found to be morally lacking.

Democrats don't seem to have those compunctions...

But, Simon, how many of those guys kept their jobs or were re-elected?

Larry Craig got busted for cruising bathrooms and resigned--Bary Frank was mixed up in a prostitution ring.....and is still there.

William 'Cold Cash' Jefferson just got re-elected--with FILM of him taking bribes--and wasn't there a DC mayor that had similar re-election luck--after being busted smoking crack with a prostitute?

How many Reps got re-elected after having been hit with the Abramoff scandal? How many Dems?

How many ranking Republicans are 'ex'-klansmen?

And we all had a great time slamming McCain over the Keating 5 scandal--but why doesn't anyone point out that the other 4 were Democrats? JohnnyMac was just being his 'maverick' self.

Double standard? Naaaah.

yeah, and LBJ killed some guy in tex-ass.

yaddah, yaddah, yaddah.

if you want a complete list of republicans who have committed crimes vs. the democrats i'm sure i could spend some time making a list of the most heinous, but what would be the point?

i'm not going to change your mindset nor will you change mine.

i am a patriot and know who my commander-in-chief is regardless of party affiliation.

and as an american, i support him in what he or she does.

Patronage jobs are filled with "Yes" men....civil servants do their duty, and try to do whats right for the public.

so, with that said, are you going to continue to denigrate our incoming, democratically elected leader without allowing him to do his damn job?

if your answer is yes, well then i question your motives, and allegiances.

if you have problems with the incoming administration well, that's just too fucking bad.

wait four years and try to change it, instead of counter-productive sniping.

or are you too bitter to see the forest from the trees?

Simon, I don't think I'm denigrating Obama here--and I don't think I HAVE denigrated him, personally(the things he wants to do and stands for--absolutely)--I think I'm responding to people who are continuing to denigrate his opponent's VP pick....for some reason.....

And I wasn't talking about Rs and Ds who've commited crimes--I was pointing out the different treatment and fates of the aforementioned.
wait four years and try to change it, instead of counter-productive sniping.
Why do you all keep telling me to 'shut up', 'I lost', 'blah, blah, blah'? You all have been whining for EIGHT YEARS. Why can't I be extended the same courtesy?

Or is it that hypocrite thing again? Dissent is only patriotic when the left is dissenting against the right?
if your answer is yes, well then i question your motives, and allegiances.

i have not been a bad winner, and in the spirit of cooperation and unity i have refrained, or at least tried to.

as far as Palin is concerned, she is an ongoing Circus of comic Frivolity and Vanity.

Bitchy Baptist Barbie has no place in American Politics, and i believe the voters in the great state of alaska will let her know that in 2 years.

if not, and she decides (as i think she already has) to run in 2012, well then, god bless her, but as a public figure, expect to be ridiculed.

I Promise to make fun of Obama and cronies when i think i should.

there, i just did.

Bristol Palin's baby-grandmother, Sherry Johnston, busted on drug charges

By CELESTE KATZ
DAILY NEWS POLITICAL WRITER

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politic ... ry_jo.html

Bristol Palin's soon-to-be-born son has two grandmothers in the news: One almost became vice president, and the other was just busted by cops on drug charges.

Sherry Johnston, 42, was slapped with six felony drug counts Thursday following a lengthy undercover state police investigation.

Her son, Levi Johnston, 18, is having a child with 18-year-old Bristol Palin - the daughter of former GOP veep pick and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Sherry Johnston was released from jail on $5,000 bail. Cops refused to detail the type of drugs involved, or the amount.

The Anchorage Daily News carried a statement from Palin spokesman Bill McAllister, who tersely emailed: "This is not a state government matter. Therefore the governor's communications staff will not be providing comment or scheduling interview opportunities."

Johnston's arrest could give a whole new meaning to the term "pardon me" when she and the Alaska governor huddle around the crib of their grandson who is due on Saturday.

Levi Johnston burst into the spotlight late last summer when John McCain teamed up with Sarah Palin -- who caused a national stir by revealing Levi and Bristol were expecting.

McCain welcomed Johnston to the "family" after word got out, and the Palins announced the young couple planned to marry in the summer of 2009.

A suit-clad Johnston, at times looking a bit uneasy, joined McCain and the Palin family at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul in early September.

Palin's daughter gives birth to son named Tripp

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/art ... QD95CVKBG0

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — The daughter of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has given birth to a son, a magazine reported Monday.

Bristol Palin, 18, gave birth to Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston on Saturday, People magazine reported online. He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces. Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol's grandmother, told the magazine that "the baby is fine and Bristol is doing well."

The governor's office said it would not release information because it considers the baby's birth a private, family matter. Palin family members, hospital employees and spokespeople for the governor's former running mate, John McCain, either would not confirm the birth or did not return messages from The Associated Press.

The father is Levi Johnston, a former hockey player at Alaska's Wasilla High School.

Palin announced on Sept. 1, the first day of the Republican National Convention, that her unwed daughter was pregnant. The campaign issued a statement saying Bristol "and the young man" would get married.

Levi Johnston's mother eventually disclosed that her 18-year-old son was the father. The following week, the young man attended the convention in St. Paul, Minn., when Palin accepted the vice presidential nomination.

The announcement that the unmarried Bristol Palin, 17 at the time, was pregnant immediately drew concerns that it could damage Palin's credibility as a religious conservative. But many observers noted the pregnancy served to humanize the Palins and showcase the candidate's rejection of abortion.

Sherry Johnston, Levi's mother, said in October that Bristol and her son were considering a summer wedding.

Levi Johnston told The Associated Press that month that he and Bristol loved each other and wanted to get married. Johnston, who dropped out of high school to take a job on the North Slope oil fields as an apprentice electrician, said he was a little shocked to learn that Bristol was pregnant but quickly warmed to the idea of being a father.

He said the two had planned to get married even before Bristol became pregnant.

Johnston, an avid hunter, hinted at the time that they were expecting a boy. He said he was already looking forward to taking the boy hunting and fishing.

Johnston's mother was arrested on felony drug charges this month after state troopers served a search warrant at her Wasilla home. According to authorities, she sent text messages to two police informants in which she discusses making drug transactions involving OxyContin, a strong prescription painkiller.

Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, have five children ranging in age from Trig, 7 months, to Track, 19. In between are Willow, 14; Piper, 7; and Bristol.
