need to get a move on. Laundry, etc, and then later this morning/afternoon I'm going to be helping on mutant vehicle build/refurbish. I can piss away a morning like nobody's business... got up at 6, and haven't done anything really, ran out of coffee ack. that alone is motivation to get out of the house.

Thanks doll! I had to hustle out of the house this morning before putting coffee on. OTOH, after getting the booth setup I did get to fit a couple of very lovely ladies for kilts.

Wheee!

OK, off to the faire this time just for fun and with the kids. Have a great day all!
It's going to be alright.

Sorry VCG, I have no idea (and I'm assuming you mean on your pets).

So, in the meantime, let's have some of that wine.

Waitress! Two please.

I fight the nasty little bitches every summer. The thing that has really helped the most is to have a pest control company that sprays outdoors regularly for termites and other pests. It really keeps the flea populations out of the yard so they don't come in on the dog and cats as much.

Try using flea bombs every week for several weeks - the eggs sometimes are unaffected by the bombs and the new ones hatch out alive and well - it takes a few times to get them all. Check the foggers to be sure they kill flea eggs as well as adult fleas and set off foggers in different rooms to cover all your square footage. Flea eggs can be hidden under things, in bedding, clothes hampers, under bathroom rugs, lots of disgusting places where the poison does not reach well. It really is a war in our warm climate. I think it also helps to vacuum really often and put a cat flea collar into the vacuum bag to kill the varmits in the bag.

Good luck!

I use that stuff that you put in the cat's food. Apparently it's flea birth control and the fleas will die out eventually when they bite your cat. As long as you don't get any new ones in your house they'll be gone in a month or so. After that you don't have to use it anymore.

If you can get your pets to eat some garlic regularly they wont get fleas.
It ruins the taste of the blood.

Sounds like I missed an epic NEB this morning. I was out cleaning and doing maintenance on one of our rentals between tenants. I started to recaulk the bathroom but of course the hardest part was getting the old stuff out. You can never find a good caulk sucker when you need one. I tried advertising on Craigslist and got some of the strangest responses.

I finally gave up doing it right, I think the linoleum needs to be replaced. So I just filled up every gap I could find with fresh caulk and left it at that.

For some reason I'm very tired this evening.

Most fleas don't come in on pets, rather people.
Perhaps dogs, but they only like the blood of cats.

Cut the grass short.
Cut everything possible short.
Clean all debris possible.

Spray outside.
Spray the neighbor's yard if possible.

As said, use the flea specific bombs.
I use sc johnson.
Spray under cabinets, crannies.

Repeat to kill eggs.

I did this and didn't see fleas again for many years.
Always cats around too.

Clean the yard like it is a fucking japanese garden.

I dilute the insecticide heavily and spray more.
Soak everything.

The yard is usually the source.

Eucalyptus. Get some eucalyptus oil and mix with water. Put in spray bottle. and spray around house. (Fleas live in lawns and the like and hop on and off animals rather than that being their home, which means that frontline isn't the most effective place to get rid of them. but I have no clue for what to do about that.)

There are some books out about dangerous plants.
Some were used for anti bug and so on.

Some extremely powerful, lethal to humans if careless too.

A friend recently helped clear a yard of this stuff which had already sent one guy to the hospital.

Don't underestimate plants.
I take a plant derived anti cholesterol, 12% reduction, no side effects.
Zestra is a plant derived hormone supplement for women.
Echinacea is powerful enough to routinely kill.

VCG - two things. Turn your thermostat to 75 or below because flea need warmth to breed and survive. Two - Advantage. It has worked great on my cats and I am a the worst overbearing mother when it come to Reagan. When I was in college during finals time, I gave him Hartz flee medicine because my vet is an hour and a half away and I couldn't get him there before his flea meds ran out. I figured it just won't work at well and I'd take him to the vet the week after and tell her and give him advantage again whenever she said it was safe too (I had a dog at the time and they bring fleas into the house so bad in the summer its not even a joking matter). I gave it to him and maybe an hour or two later he was acting funny. I dropped everything and picked him up. I told my girlfriend at the time and a friend who was over studying with us that I thought something was wrong with Reagan. They blew me off as being overbearing and overprotective. But I couldn't put him down and its a good thing I didn't. A few minutes later he started to violently shake. i drove him to the emergency vet clinic and he was put on a load of medications to counteract it. I have never forgiven myself for it, so when I started looking again for a flea solution, I asked my vet who owns several cats and dogs, my holistic friends, everyone. And after all the other solutions failed, I did what my vet suggested. Turn down the thermostat and advantage once every two months. Never had any problems since.

Hope that helps.
