I wouldn't expect to hear any news regarding the inspection for quite some time. The inspection normally happens in the beginning of October, or "just in the nick of time" before things start being too cold/wet to try and do anything. Aside from the government shutdown causing something of an internal tsunami of delays and red tape, it pushed things well into the wet season on the playa. There's a slim chance that an inspection could happen this year, but most likely it wouldn't happen until sometime in the spring. When it does, posts will be made and it will be blogged about.

After checking in, it sounds like they're going to take a run at trying to do the inspection this week. Unfortunately, a wet winter storm has rolled in. They'll try again for tomorrow Friday, but no idea yet whether it will be rained (or snowed) out.

The weather has been pretty nice during the past week. The last storm dropped lots of rain and snow (last monday/Tuesday),
at least for us out here in the desert.

Yeah. Start of last week I heard the inspection was slated for this past Friday since that would theoretically give the playa time to dry out. I'm curious if the inspection happened and how we did...

The playa might be wet still. For this time of the year, it was a big storm for the desert.
I live @80 miles south of the playa and there is still lots of puddles, even my back yard is still damp.

I'm getting word that a final attempt at getting the inspection done in 2013 is happening today, and that the weather appears to be cooperating. Fingers crossed - as soon as I hear more I'll post an update.
