So, my Mother died a week ago Tuesday. The ashes are to be sent to me, she wanted to "live" here at the family place, which is now my place. I already have her husbands ashes here in the library overlooking his dogs' headstone and a nice view of the "hill". The shipper has lost...or misplaced....her. Fuck...now what else?

Been online and on the phone with a lot of people, Mom is still "lost". I hate dealing with incompetent people. The funeral home owner/operator that "sent" them out is not sure what USPS service he used. What the fuck, people? Is it raining stupid out there? I can safely ship a large antique porcelain Meissen figural group to a "back alley" address in Berlin without a hitch, what is so difficult about shipping in-country? Idiots. Fuck.

It sounds like the package was never sent. The post office puts tracking on EVERY package now, regardless whether or not it was paid for. The package can be tracked if they in fact did ship it.

Remember not to get angry or sound annoyed with these incompetent fuckers, as you may hurt their feelings and cause them anguish and stress.

Hmmm, mailing cremated human remains falls under special fucking rules at the USPS, so, you may want to point out to the fuckhead funeral home operator that his license may be at stake here. Or, you might get the local licensing agency to do that for you.

Well friends, he and I have spoken a few times now. I think he knows I am a little "serious" about losing my Mom twice. I have an insider in the PO that owes me a "favor". I am having him open some doors online that are usually not open-able. So far, still lost. I think a computer on the "assembly-line" in Houston or Dallas kicked the box out, as we think the wrong tracking/shipping label was attached to the box. He paid $30 to ship the 5 pound box from South Texas, (in a small town) to me in Va. via 2-day air? WTF? Nah, somebody simply fucked up. If it was a sweater or car part, no biggie. But it is not. It is my Mother. It will probably be returned to him in S. Texas, if she actually turns up. They are all about the money, so it will be returned to sender for insufficient postage. Can I hear a big FFFFFUUUUCCCCKKKK!!!!! from everybody? Thank you....plus, it is 23 and snowing heavily here right now, and I hate that shitty kind of weather. I am an equator type.

mgb327, my best wishes are with you. I hope he knows you're more than 'serious'. I think you need to be about a week from going ballistic and thermonuclear in the courtroom on him. Then, he MIGHT get the message that you mean business.

It's rare that you run into one of thoses devil-may-care-but-I-don't types, but when you do, the more businesslike you are, and the more consequences turn up on HIS side of the street, then the better your chances.

It's not the same, but I ran into one of those types a few years back. I took my car in for repairs, and he had to remove the carburator and distributor cap to get at the problem. He charged me a full hour to get the distributor cap off. I saw that in his labor charges. I told him to cut it to the maximum the warranty allows, 0.3 hours, because I could do it in about 30 seconds myself. He said, "But my labor guide says an hour." I paid him in cash, then, as I walked out the door, I said,

"See you in court for FRAUD, motherfucker."

He returned the entire extra hour to me, in cash. I left his shop, never to use it ever again.

I really need to dig out two slides from 1997. Friends of mine scattered a man's ashes at 200 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats. I caught that on film. Next day, an amazing cloud formation appeared, as if deliberately created. I caught that too. We like to think it was our scattered friend who said "thanks for the ride". I'll try to find them today. Fuck yeah.
