We have dumbasses here who think that the fire department is who you call to address a landslide emergency.
You know what happens when the fire service is confronted with any emergency? THEY SPRAY WATER ON IT! I I kid thee not. You tell them not to, and they think that YOU are "exacerbating" the situation. When I hear that fancy schmancy code word that means they think they're smarter than their friendly neighborhood geologist, I give up and let them play. Then, when the house slides into the lake....it's THEIR financial responsibility. The same thing happened a couple of years ago when they wanted to clear out the throat of a sinkhole in Nixa, Missouri, to see where the water was going. Same day...they lost the car in the sinkhole AND the house adjacent.
How many firefighters does it take to fuck up a landslide? Just one, because a landslide isn't a fire.
The county route slide isn't as bad, thankfully, but you still have administrative bureaucrats who want to fix this 'inexpensively' (meaning they don't want you to touch more than $1000 of their budget. Great. I have a solution to that. Fire the bureaucrat, and with the money you save, fix the landslide. Oops. Not a good idea to broach in an election year with these sensitive little kids.

Well my brother's now in hospice, big relief right? All kind of nice helpful people on the case. Big bag of super-strength controlled substances delivered on Friday afternoon, that's great right?

Meds all disappeared into my SIL's bedroom. Even she can't find them half the time, or so she says. She won't show me the bottles. Says he "gets mixed up" and takes too many. How many? She keeps changing her story. Meantime, he's miserable.
And she hasn't let the hospice nurses back in the house since the meds were delivered.
How long to you think it will take the hospice nurse to figure out what's up?

Maybe I'd talk to the people providing the meds, but I don't know what they could do, other than move in to monitor the situation 24 hours a day, which isn't likely to happen...
