Just saw article in the Jackrabbit speaks about "The Temple is scheduled to burn at 8:00 PM on Sunday, 8/31 this year. The Temple used to burn at 9:00 but in 2012 we decided to move the burn earlier in the evening to help mitigate Exodus traffic but the earlier time caught some by surprise last year. This special burn is an important way to close out the event for many people, so don't miss it if you want to be there!"

I think that's rad.. the traffic after temple I find quite dangerous. How light is it at 8pm?
Can you at least admit that nuclear explosions are awesome!?

The sun sets at 7:30 pm and darkness decends at 9:06 pm.

In the transition portion of the night... how appropriate to signify the transition that occurs during the Temple Burn.

There are plenty of logistical reasons as well, but the transition from day to night is the symbolic reason why the lamplighter processions go out just before sundown. I find the liminality of dawn and dusk much more potent out there, perhaps because time is so precious.
When he lights his streetlamp, it is as if he brought one more star to life, or one flower.
When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
That is a beautiful occupation.
