Two things.

10 mph on a trike is plenty fast enough, it can get squirly over ten.

My trike and motor have been to the playa 4 years and are still doing fine. 8)

I'm not looking for fast.....Im looking for me to NOT have to pedal around the pedicart I made for my trike.

Now that I've seen a picture of Lonsomebri's cart I may have to make some mods to mine.
I think it would cut alot of weight off it.

Oh, and I noticed on my trike that slicker tires are not the best. I spun them a few times in the dust.
I wont get rid of them but instead perhaps make some Dust Chains for them!

Holy bug nuts! Those already should be the standard bicycle of BRC but at that price… wow I might oughta order me a few. And I don't even ride bikes.
I should grab one just to cut it up and monster out my tandem that Elliot gave me!

Rats… but even normal price is a pretty good deal.
Yeah Tiaharr, Elliot gave me an old tandem from his big pile of bikes. It needs to be gone through and rebuilt and I can't help thinking the only cool thing to do would be to cut off the rear stays and weld on the rear of a Beast, and swap on the Beast front end. Hopefully chain alignment won't be sensitive to the extra width at the rear. I don't think it will, considering that derailleurs get away with a few inches of misalignment. Of course, they fuck up a lot too…

So who's gonna be first to do a beast trike? Oh wait, you already KILLED that.

Note the bicycle has a two-legged parking stand, so it stays straight upright when parked.

There are two kinds of such stands: the kind in the picture, and the kind that mounts by the rear axle and swings up behind the rear wheel. Both are currently for sale at a laughably low price. The firm is calling it a close-out, so the supply may be limited. I just bought one of each, and they seem well enough made -- but I have not installed them yet. I'm leery of the rear-axle type, since it mounts under the axle nuts. Here we go:

In the 40s early 50s he axle mounted were standard on all bikes.. They were made
of bend galvanize channel. The channal was about 3/8 deep

They were common in Norway too. And from photos I've seen they are still common in much of the world.

I've been meaning to figure all this out since I bought the silly things several weeks ago.

So I went out to the barn.

The two-legged stand that mounts in the usual position between the crank and the front of the tire... clears a regular cruiser tire -- 26 x 2.125 -- just fine. There is even room to spare -- a 2.35 would probably be fine.
BUUUUUTTTTT...!... It will not fit a bike with derailer gearing! The right-side leg interferes with the chain.

The "loop" stand that mounts at the rear axle and swings up behind the wheel will fit anything. I expect it can even be bent a little to fit the frame on a bike with those four inch wide tires.

(Of course, I don't know exactly what you mean by a "fat" bike tire. I built a bicycle with tires 18 inches wide -- third picture in my signature. It does not require a parking stand. You just step off and it remains upright. )

Thanks,

It's for a Mongoose Beast (4" tire), and for my own build (3.8"), where I can likely sneak the heavy duty one on as it's a long wheel base cargo. I might end up having to weld extensions on the legs to reach the ground without leaning the bike's COG past the ground contact. Like to have both feet on the ground.
Sigh. Like a Beast needs more weight...

That 18" wide tire would be great for the bike not falling over, but as in the photo above, it can't do much for keeping the driver upright with that type of between-the-tubes cargo. :)

Considering that Industrial Bikes is selling both types I mentioned (52-250 rear mount, and 52-350 center mount) for $4.95 each, you cannot go far wrong by buying them. Granted, postage is about as much, but for roughly twenty bucks you can have both delivered to your door, then tinker until you are happy. (And what you can't use, I can. )

Yes, a major point with these is that you can extend them, since it doesn't matter much if a tire is a couple inches off the ground when parked.

I don't quite follow you about my 18" tires, but I'll post a full size version anyway. As for the second picture, let that be a lesson not to ride on freshly watered streets!

The tires will hold the bike upright, but if you're drinking the booze from that between-the-tubes bike carrier , the tires may not hold the driver upright...

Ah! Of course. You are referring to the bar cabinet mounted on the regular bicycle a few posts back. Silly me.
See.... That's how short my attention span can be.

Now.... I have indeed ridden "Pear County Chopper" (long story  ) while roaring drunk -- Thank you Kamp Apokiliptika and Martini Steve! It was a fabulous blast. And I did fall off a couple times. Hilarious fun!
Sometimes I regret converting it to a tricycle (second picture from right). But it was too difficult to ride in rough terrain - even stone sober.

What were we talking about, again?

The $200 Mongoose Beast is currently sold out online at wallyworld.
Rumour has it, it's being replaced by a "beast", but with front & rear disc brakes, with a five speed rear, for $300.
Photo has leaked, but I can't find an original source.
monboose beast replacement.jpg
And looks like a baby beast similarly fitted.
(might make a good trike base?)

Last year I got regular Schwinn, 26" wheeled, trikes. I put front hub 1000watt, 48volt motors on them, with lith-ion batteries, lit them up with lots of EL wire, good head and tail lights and they were great. Big basket built in on the back and added a basket to the handlebars. I didn't want for more carrying capacity, but I do have one of those bike trailer/jogging buggies. But we can carry our congas in the back, and that's why I used the trailer.
This is not a cheap option. But as I passed Medicare age and not as strong as I used to be, this was terrific.

Trikes in general, even without motors, are great playa bikes. You can go slow in the crazy city traffic. You can stop - and not fall down. And, of course, the carrying capacity.

The guy at the motor cycle shop and I were brain storming...
I need a positive hitch on the bike trailer.. There is a lot of junk on the market..
The shop guy come up with a Heim joint.. It has the same action as a ball hitch..
No more jerking and clashing.. Even has no slack like a ball hitch..

Just a better mouse trap
