I doubt that all of the invective and screaming about Obama is racially motivated, but I strongly suspect that more than a little of it is.

To me the "hung in effigy" events go with the job. Johnson, Nixon, Bush 41, Clinton, and Bush 43 all got the treatment according to my memory. There is no reason that Obama should be exempt.

Now, as to whether GWB was treated fairly, I would not claim that he was. Sometimes he got a pass, and sometimes he was falsely accused. To me, though, the strongest of the criticisms had substantial facts behind them. Was he stupid? Not clinically so, but friends of his described him as "incurious," which is even worse than stupid in my book. He did start a useless war for some combination of bad reasons. His "tax cuts" caused much of the budget problems we see now. And GWB authorized torture, which makes him morally bankrupt.

The above opinions are not just politics. I don't have the same feeling about GHWB, or Ford. I have a different opinion of Nixon (who was, indeed, a crook). I feel torn and resentful about Johnson, who was instrumental in both the Vietnam war and in civil rights. I feel kindly towards Ford, the last Republican president I could respect. And I like Ike, more so now than in previous years.

As for Obama, this orchestrated, well-funded, yet also visceral campaign against him is intensely political, and is intended to shift even more power to the rich. The campaign appeals to the worst instincts we have, racism included. Anyone who thinks that these assertions about him are factually based is being taken for a ride.

We are being dragged, kicking and screaming, back to the power distribution that existed before Roosevelt (both FDR and Teddy). The pity is that so many are screaming about the wrong things.

Now, back to American Idle.

Obama once stated that AA probably played a hand in getting into Harvard, but people who knew him....that Trump can't seem to find, say Obama was a brilliant student. According to reports that I'm too lazy to dig up, Trump is a racist...maybe a closet racist, a sexist..and an asshole. That said, we should give him every opportunity to run as a Republican! Maybe I should have mentioned that it was an equal opportunity roast. But I guess that's what can happen when people comment on issues based on what someone says rather than finding out exactly what was said by actually watching the the cited reference. The conversation becomes a surreal game of telephone.

I rarely check cites or links.........I like to just go with the "conversation" as such.
Assuming and hoping, what someone says is accurate.

and, yes, I do love comedy,and biting, "at times make you uncomfortable" comedy.
I just think it's ok, and all doors are open, when hacking a public figure.

And, so, I often "tease" those who get all "bent out of shape" because their person gets slammed......

I suppose it's my way of saying "lighten up".......

I saw an article this morning, from the Washington Times, not only "proving" the birth certificate was fake, but, saying the CIA travels in time to tell future prez's who they are and how they should act.

Other than entertaining (marginally), I just don't care.

But, it's sort of interesting, to see Obama's strident, slightly myopic supporters go nuts over the stuff.

I still say, "tease 'em all" because, they took the job, and all that goes with it.
