Super-Wheee!

I love my Kindle. I can hit the internet (even post to eplaya!) and download free books from http://www.feedbooks.com !
Best of all is that I never have to pay a dime for its 3G cell service!!! It's included in the price when you buy it. (Yay!)

Yes I use my NOOK for that on the road a LOT. I refuse to pay another $30.00 to occasionally use the internet on my phone. I'm mostly home so that would just be ridiculous as I have a computer right here.

Don't worry, Foxypants, I'll kick you IF I see you, so either way you'll get kicked. See, nice and easy! :D

Yes, we should all get together. Fun!!!!! <3

No, no, this is Burning Man. I lend them out, no charge. If this comes together, there will be one for you. I ask that the users of the bikes provide their own locks and lights if at all possible.

Thanks Elliot!! Do you have any pink bikes?? j/k!

Should I bring my own basket? I should tell you I'm 6' tall, so a sting ray won't fit me!!

That's awful sweet of you bringing bikes for people!! (((Elliot)))

No problem, Mary, I have bikes for tall people.

Only a few of them have luggage racks, but handlebar baskets may work. Bring any such you want, and we'll try to install it.

Many of these bikes were given to my bike repair shop on the Playa in past years, so I'm just keeping them in circulation.

Thats too wonderful!! I was thinking about bringing my own bike but I'd have to buy a bike rack for my car and I have to save money for my trip down. I'll bring a bell and a basket that you can keep for next year!!

Oo, you're right. I may do some version of this, as I am trying to finish up my purchases and be practical in terms of money and pack space (and do not constantly need/want a bike basket).

Lights are more important than a bell. In fact, lights are required -- and for good reason. You can get away with wrapping some EL wire around yourself and calling it a taillight, but you really need a front lamp also to you can see who you are running over.

Problem with handlebar basket and front lamp is that they go in the same place. But you may be able to put the front lamp on one end of the handlebar. :D

Edit: Add picture:

Here is a happy trick I have installed on some of my Playa bikes. It is a kids' BMX handlebar that I have installed on a normal adult bike. This gives a more upright riding position which seems to suit many who do not normally ride much.
It also allows a basket to be installed on the rear side of the handlebar, away from cables and front lamp.
This modification does require some mechanical skill and a new set of (longer) cables.

(This particular bike is a vintage Schwinn road bike with mountain bike wheels - even more mechanical work required! )

Zip-ties (Panduit makes em and names theirs Pan-Ty's, love it) would be great for that. Plus they'll leave no trace of duct tape adhesive for the next rider...

Not a happy idea, but.... Avoid zip ties, ties straps, wire ties, from WalMart. I've had them snap right off, a whole pack of brand new ones.

Happy thought: Carry a roll of electrical tape to secure the little rubber strips that come with bike lamps. Those rubber spacers get lost too easily, but electrical tape fixes it!

Well, I was speaking to its use on the bosom, but you are welcome to try . . . (which reminds me of some comedy sketch show where some wag was trying to excuse drinking and smoking and other vices by doing them through a ceremonial hole in a bed sheet).

Played a CD I'd not listened to since just after Dad died. Kinda been afraid to listen thinking it would bring me down. It did just the opposite. I felt a heavy gratitude towards that man I loved so very much. Big Big gratitude.

The backstory is this (yep, storytime with Foxfur):
My twin brother & I were adopted at birth. Nobody knew our Bio-Mom was carrying twins, not even the docs. The folks got the call from the agency telling them there was a 2 for 1 situation going down and that if they wanted to back out that it was perfectly acceptable.
Dad immediately said yes he'd take us.
He opened his arms twice as wide, went out and bought one more everything and welcomed us into the family.
If they'd not taken us we'd have been in the foster care system for god knows how long. Not many folks out there that would have taken on such a project.

Thanks Dad.
