I've been here, just hanging out quietly. Our weather sucks too, my back hurts and I may or may not have all my holiday cards in the mail.

Yep. After three months you can no longer credit the Burn directly with any drunken post-Burn, jet-lagged, sun-addled, dehydration-based insanity, and can chalk it all up to ordinary, everyday, garden-variety, Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul insanity.

*shuffles in*

dang!! I've been trying to make the Hofstove, from only stuff I have/had in my steel supply, or that of friends.
nowhere could I find a piece of 3/8" thick, 36X42 plate.........so I had to buy it.
but, it'll make a fine stove and cook top.
but dang it, it was going to be all recycled.

YG, you get a pass this time! Your heart was, as always, in the right place. I'll bet that stove will be a humdinger!

What Marty said, Ygmir! Reuse all that you can and buy those few bits that you need to get the job done right, that HofStove is gonna rock!

ah, thanks for the coffee, AntiM:
and thanks gang for the perspective. yeah, I like the idea of reusing so much steel
and guess, a little "new" is just necessary to "get it right".
I'm spending time on strength and airflow infrastructure on it now, so nothing really interesting to share as far as photos go.

Today, I'll finally be taking the camper off the fire truck. That's always exciting.
