I haven't followed the links provided yet, but it reminded me of my ex and his sisters BS regarding BM '04 and '05.
I didn't see it, but when I got back from BM '04, my mom told me that when she went to my ex's to pick up my daughter, his sister was there and she had a sign in her back window that said, "NO, I am NOT going to Burning Man. I am a Christian." wtf ever.
Then this year, a few days before I left, it was 'time for a talk' according to my ex....oh goody, I couldn't wait. Chats w/ him are always oh so enlightening
Here is the conversation as well as I can remember:

The closed minded, ignorant fucktard redneck: (hereafter known as 'Putz': So, are you going to Burning Man this year?"

me: "Yep, don't I always"

Putz: "Well, you really need to rethink your morals"

Me: "Ok, clue me in....wtf do my morals have to do with me going to Burning Man and how/why is it any concern to you?"

Putz: "Burning Man is Evil"

Me: "wtf are you talking about? You've never even gone."

Putz: "They worship the devil"

Me: "again, wtf are you talking about? You have no idea what BM is all about. It is an amazing experience....you shouldn't knock it or even claim to have any idea what it is about til you've been there. Besides, I don't take our daughter to BRC, so where is the problem?"

Putz: "Wow, you have really enlightened me. You were right all those years, I WAS an ignorant, judgemental, inconsiderant, biased fucktard redneck. And for that I am sorry....thank you for opening my mind and showing me the light. From here on out, I swear I will change my ways and before you know it, you'll only have to call me a redneck fucktard....I won't be closedminded or judgemental anymore. Scouts honor."

Ok ok, that last part was fantasy.....it'll never happen. When your family tree has no branches, and you've been brought up to believe in the 'conform or else..' philosophy, the chances for enlightenment are slim to not a fucking chance in hell....but I can still hope???
Screw hopin', I'm gonna drag out the ol' cauldrin and cast a spell to change his mind!! Gotta go hunt up some tongue of toad and a dragon gizzard...Anyone got a black robe and a goat I can borrow? lmao
