how am I being an oversensitive bitch with no humor? Since BM I have been manhandled on 3 separate occasions. My camp (Mystic Beat Lounge) had it's own little Decompression party at which an uninvited guest proceeded to smack my ass so hard that I fell to the ground in pain. I didn't even see who he was. I don't think I am being oversensitive, just getting tired of this crap.

Yes I do realize that MOST burners are cool. I actually felt incredibly safe on the playa. I would say that I was ogled and touched 80% less than I am in real life. It is just sad to come back to a world where I have to constantly be my own bodygaurd.

do you guys think that b/c people feel like it's ok to screw around and get wasted it leads to more of this kind of behavior? all this is supposed to lead to greater love and neighborliness....but god, maybe people just can't handle the freedom. maybe human nature's not that great...or maybe there are just some people at BM that aren't respectful of the real spirit of it? Thoughts.

Actually, I think it means some people are just assholes. And unlike the differing viewpoints many people have of the "real spirit" of BM, the fact that some people are assholes is a universal truth.

My experience with sex parties is that there is a lot of education that has to be done. You pretty much have to sign a release concerning your behavoir to be let in the door, and even then monitors have to do a fair amount of reminding. And we're talking a much smaller attendance drawn from friends of friends rather than just anyone on the internet. How we could replicate that on the playa. . .

I think there is still a broad social consensus about groping being okay--at least under certain circumstances. That it happens on the playa too is disappointing, but not shocking.
