Well, they do have to fold it up into a four foot cube.
But yes, I agree, size matters. We have a rhoadescar, roughly 5x8 or so, and it has to go on top of boxes, etc. in the trailer, then have everything else packed on and around it. Still is one of the best ways for me to get around, even if I can't navigate it well on my own. mylarry usually drives and the driver's seat is set for his long legs.

phil wrote:The problem, for me, with quads and trikes is getting them to the Playa. We've got our two wheel bikes tied to the wall of the van and stuff packed in around them and between them and the wall. I can't imagine getting all our stuff in the van when we've got the floor space taken up by a recumbent, a trike, or a quad-wheel. I know it's done, I just can't see it in my future.

I pull one of those $150°° trailers ..Attemp to keep most of the camp stuff out of the van..I have all the makings for a roof top trike hualer..but plan to retire the trike after 07..I would like to build a peddle/electric trike like a "Palmer"..Woud seat two..Two set of peddles..A nice gear box..On my personal transport, I'm noticing how much the controler heats up at low speeds..

Well, unjon, there's always the Chinese lunar rover:

Six wheels, if I'm counting right, and it runs on solar during the day and nuclear at night. I'm sure it folds down to some respectable size that we can pack in our van, but I'll need help getting it in and out at 200 kilos.

The Bike With 2 Brains I made came all apart. I don't have a picture of all the parts laid out (missing the straight horizontal pieces and the curved top parts) but this pile of parts:phil wrote:The problem, for me, with quads and trikes is getting them to the Playa.

gets assembled with bolts and pipe unions into this:

The 2005 machine I brought to the Playa looked like this:

But I found the windmill and solar panel on top was too bulky to be worth it (the batteries for the lights and sounds never really discharged all the way in subsequent years.)
