The older affluent areas in L.A. are all overgrown with ivy and bushes to hide the house. Since they're fenced, the rats are protected from the coyotes. I'll bet that they have 200 rats per house / yard. When the date palms ripen, the phone cables are a freeway. The hawks are making a comeback in lots of areas. Even the great horned owls are increasing,,, living on cats and rats.
I don't post things because I believe that they are the absolute truth. I post them because I believe that they should be considered.

The other old yard dog had to go to sleep yesterday.. I'm very sad.
He has patroled the yard for 13 years.. Lost the first one a while back.. Both were named Axel. It cut command time by having the same name.. Little girl dog is sad today also. We took her to sniff Axel after he passed She knows he will not come back.

Axel was a air cooled VW man. Like to ripe the fence down to go with, When I'd start the old 69.

UNH:
I had written these for the loss of my beloved pets.

I offer them, to you.

Fare-Well,
My friends,
The glorious days,
Days of growling,
of barking,
chasing squirrels.
You were the fastest......
Of sleeping side by side,
riding with your heads out the window,
ears flapping,
chasing balls, playing soccer,
bad breath and long teeth.........
napping......
Your sight failed,
Your ears failed,
But,
your hearts were strong,
With love and courage.......
They all now end......
Stride far, my friends,
Champions, companions, protectors,
Walk in the light,
Bravely, without fear,
roam the worlds,
A piece of me,
with you,
Take..........

Fare-well,
friend,
companion,
warrior,
guardian of the hearth,
protector of family,
Fair farmind of true intent and loyalty,
and love,
Stride proudly into the unknown,
May you find your place
and may it be fair
as we accept your absence.......

for my friends who grieve, may it be true.

SB 250 passed the Appropriations Committee and will go to a full vote on the
assembly floor. This is without a doubt the most destructive law ever for
dog owners. Any dog at a show without a license on his collar, or off leash
is in violation. The fact that obedience doesn't allow tags in the ring, the
fact that show dogs don't wear tags in the ring, means NOTHING. You only get
one chance. Once you've been cited, your dog is spayed or neutered and SO
ARE ANY OTHER DOGS YOU OWN. You think they won't come after you at a show?
Just check around and see what they're already doing.

The Burbank shows are September 26 and 27. SB 250 could be on the books by
then. Maybe it's not likely, but what if? What if AC decides to make an
example of us at that show? You could lose your entire breeding stock. If
not Burbank, how about Riverside, San Gabriel, any show, anywhere in
California? Every time you enter, you'll be putting your dogs at risk, all
of them. And if you're one of those who flies under the radar and doesn't
license and you get caught - you won't need to commit a leash violation or
anything else. You'll be cited, dogs sterilized and you won't be allowed to
own an intact dog ever again.

If you don't show but you compete in obedience or agility, chances are you
already spay/neuter your dogs and think none of this applies to you... What
happens when your dogs get old, they retire, and it's time for a new puppy.
Where will you get that puppy? From a breeder? Yeah, right.

We have eleven days to make the biggest stink Sacramento has ever seen.
Remind them that this bill will cost the state a fortune. Call, write, fax,
email. Then do it again. Tell everyone you know to do the same. Every
Democrat in the Assembly needs to hear from you. Here is their contact info.

We are in the final stages of SB250 please click on the link www.saveourdogs.net for an easy letter to our legislators. Please help us defeat this bill.

Andrew Mills is a long time dog fancier, starting in Collies and moving into Bichon Frises early in the breed history in the US. He is a licensed AKC judge and is delegate for Del Sur Kennel club of San Diego County.
This makes good sense. Sign up, Californians!
And, if you got this in error, please pass it back to a threatened dog owner of California.

Subject: The Challenge is on!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to challenge everyone to PLEASE click the www.saveourdogs.net <http> link and send their name to the California legislature. When they do, they can check a box that will email them a reply that it has been done. I want them to check that box and forward the email to you. Then you can post a list of exactly who is doing their part in stopping this horrendous bill. They we will know if your name is not on the list, you are not willing to take 1-2 minutes out of your day to help the cause.
If the members think this sounds like big brother, then they should think of consequences. No more dog shows in CA next March. So if you all care at all about the cause - JUST DO IT!!

Got this in mail. It appears that the Humane Society wants to end all "use" of animals. Dunno.

> RED ALERT! Now is the time to SPAY AND NEUTER THE HSUS - PHA
> Sun Dec 20, 2009 10:08 am (PST)
>
> Permission to forward to those that will help us show the Humane Society of the United States the true meaning of MANDATORY SPAY NEUTER. ANY ANIMAL BREEDER from pets to farm animals to reptiles. Today we are launching the first phase of a multi-phase, carefully timed, and HUGE initiative to expose the HSUS for what they are:
> >TAX CHEATS DISGUISED AS A CHARITY.
>
> >On the heels of the HSUS-inspired ballot initiative in MO (which I posted a little earlier today, and which they surely have plans to initiate in other states as well), and in response to that are 18 months of hard evidence-gathering by a top attorney, former Judge Advocate, and Washington DC lobbyist, Mr. Frank Losey. Frank would NOT have done this if he did not believe we have a SOLID CASE against HSUS, concerning their non-profit status. (This also appears on the ADOA site). We need THOUSANDS of letters to go to IRS, ASAP!
> >
> >Mandatory Spay Neuter for the HSUS - PHASE I, several more phases to follow

> > Dear Animal Friends,

> >As many of you know, the Humane Society of the United States (aka "HSUS" or "The Humane Society") has created a firestorm of activity nationwide, striving to eliminate our rights to own and enjoy animals, raise animals as food sources, and participate in wildlife management practices such as hunting, fishing and trapping. They are targeting animals used in research, as well as sports, entertainment and as the family pet. They are a runaway train set to destroy agriculture, sports, wildlife management and the owning of pets; life with animals as we know it.

> >The unknowing public is contributing heavily to their coffers, thinking they are "saving animals" when, in fact they are feeding the piranhas that are eating away at animal ownership, use and enjoyment, through anti-animal legislation.

> >Recently, a HSUS-inspired ballot initiative was filed in Missouri against our dog breeding industry. Called the "Puppymill Cruelty Protection Act", the measure does anything but protect animals. It virtually eliminates our freedom of choice to participate in the free enterprise system and enjoy animals, regardless of the state-of-the- art care they receive. Although the HSUS has targeted other states regarding agriculture and hunting interests, this is the first ballot initiative aimed specifically at dog owners and breeders. Missouri has been extremely strong in killing their proposed legislation at the state capitol since the early 1990's, and because of that, HSUS plans to sway the public to vote for their measure in the November 2010 general election, using their usual heart-wrenching photos, lies and unverifiable statistics. They will stop at nothing to reach their goal.

> >Well, they have awakened a sleeping giant and we are fighting back! The agriculture groups in Missouri have come together in a massive coalition to fight this HSUS initiative. Missouri will be the first state, but others have been targeted, as well. We need to WIN in MO, to set a precedent for other states' efforts.

> >Right now we are asking that all dog/cat/reptile/ cattle/swine/ chicken/egg/ sheep - whatever - producers and owners

> JOIN TOGETHER TO PUT A BIG DENT IN HSUS' BIG, FAT WEALTHY SIDE. HELP US BE PRO-ACTIVE!! !

>
> >We call it HOW TO SPAY AND NEUTER THE HSUS. Here's how you can help:

> >This will take you approximately five minutes to download the two documents to a folder (these documents are attached but can also be found at:

> http://www.adoa. org/documents/ cover_letter_ irs_fraud_ division. docand
> >http://www.adoa. org/documents/ overview_ summary_excessiv e_lobbying. doc

> adjust letter as instructed below, print out, sign the letter and attach the 14-page Overview.

> Then, take the 20-minutes or so it takes you to drive to the Post Office. READ ON.

> >Please download the two documents: Cover Letter to IRS Tax Fraud Division, and 14-Page Overview.
> >1) On the Cover letter, add your name, address and phone number at bottom, omit the instructions at the top, print, sign. Please do as many of these as you can for different members of your family; send separately.
> >2) Print out the 14-page Overview, and send with cover letter, CERTIFIED MAIL (no return rect required unless you want to) to INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE, TAX FRAUD DIVISION, FRESNO, CA 93888.
> >3) Bring along a small envelope addressed to Frank Losey, 2029 Tampa Blvd, Navarre, FL 32566, insert your mail receipts (the green portion) and mail those to Frank right while you're there at the post office.

> THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP, PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO SEND YOUR RECEIPTS TO FRANK; they will be used in a subsequent effort in January and Frank needs them ALL!!! (to scan and email receipts, check ADOA site; best way is to mail them, for legibility).

> >Then you are done, TIL FURTHER instructions come along. Please be watching your emails and lists.
> >REMEMBER, NUMBERS MATTER! PLEASE PLEASE take the time to help REALLY save our animals!
> >This is our ONE CHANCE to be heard.

> >THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AT THIS BUSY TIME OF YEAR. EVERYBODY IS BUSY, BUT REMEMBER, THE BUSIEST PEOPLE ARE THOSE THAT CHANGE THE WORLD!!!

> >THANK YOU, and Merry Christmas!!! !!

This originated with Karen Strange of the Missouri Federation of Dog Clubs.

It seems that the circus is taking on the humane society;

<http>
Racketeering Lawsuit Filed against HSUS and its Lawyers by Feld Entertainment, 16 February 2010
This document is a federal lawsuit filed on February 16, 2010 by Feld Entertainment (the parent company of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus) under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.

Feld is suing:

* The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS);
* The Fund for Animals (which merged with HSUS in 2004);
* Jonathan Lovvorn, an attorney employed by HSUS;
* Kimberly Ockene, an attorney employed by HSUS;
* The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA);
* The Animal Welfare Institute;
* The Animal Protection Institute (d/b/a/ Born Free USA);
* Tom Rider (a discredited witness in a recently dismissed lawsuit against Feld, who a judge ruled was paid at least $190,000 for his testimony);
* Meyer Glitzenstein & Crystal (the outside law firm which handled that lawsuit against Feld);
* Katherine Meyer (of Meyer Glitzenstein & Crystal);
* Eric Glitzenstein (of Meyer Glitzenstein & Crystal);
* Howard Crystal (of Meyer Glitzenstein & Crystal); and
* The Wildlife Advocacy Project (a nonprofit organization founded and managed by Meyer Glitzenstein & Crystal, which was used as a pass-through vehicle to allow animal rights groups to pay Tom Rider for his discredited testimony against Feld).

The central claim of the lawsuit (see page 13 of the PDF) is:

[D]efendants have perpetrated and continue to perpetrate multiple schemes to permanently ban Asian elephants in circuses, to defraud FEI of money and property and/or to unjustly enrich themselves, with the ultimate objective of banning Asian elephants in all forms of entertainment and captivity. To carry out these schemes, defendants conspired to conduct and conducted the Enterprise through a pattern of, among other things, bribery and illegal gratuity payments (in violation of both state and federal law), obstruction of justice, mail fraud, wire fraud and money laundering. This is a well-produced vid about the Humane Society. One of the claims is that the vast majority of the donations and moneys that they receive is used for their retirement fund and very little is actually used towards animal welfare. I suspect that the claim wouldn't have been made if the info wasn't readily available in their annual report.

I'm passing on everything that my friend, Kathy Grayson sends me on the efforts to limit or end animal ownership.

BEWARE OF "Stamps to the rescue 2010"

This is to let you know that the US Postal Stamps for the rescue dogs is ACTUALLY another H$U$ scam!!! Please - - do NOT support this - - and send this far and wide!!!!!

The email below has started circulating:

Subject: Stamps to the Rescue 2010

Check this out...Starting April 30th you can buy stamps at the post office that help to buy food for shelter pets. You can pre-order them online. This would be a great thing to spread around. Could you please forward to your contacts?

Go to this url and you'll find Ellen DeGeneres smiling and touting "you buy the stamps. Halo buys the food for 1 million shelter pets." http://www.stampstotherescue.com/

At the top of the page there are links "the campaign"; "the stamps"; "adoption"

Click on the campaign link and you'll find more info and a big H$U$ LOGO.

A more research and we've found that there's a "Female Force" comic book starring Ellen and a portion of the proceeds go to H$U$ - http://www.humanesociety.org/news/news/2010/03/a_ force_for_ animals.html
