It took me 3 days, 7hrs, 5 hrs, 6 hrs, timing. Not bad. Chinati is one big thing on my list. There are lots of very cool galleries here as well. Today I met with Roger Curly, local gunsmith and retired border patrol officer. Totally nice guy. We shot the breeze for over an hr (pardon the pun) Badge if you're thinking of visiting in the next 3 months, you can stay here for a spell. Thought about going out to the Marfa lights tonight, but it is pretty darn cold.
I love this place. Will post more pics on that link.

I wonder if the cool galleries you speak about are the result of Chinati setting up house. Sorta like how smaller businesses will move in when a *big store opens in an area.

*I don't want to use the Wallmart analogy because Chinati is anything but that.

Petra is on my list of fantasy vacations. (I may be getting too old and chicken for some of my other ones - like trekking into the Annapurna sanctuary, climb a couple of the lessor peaks and then kayak out.)

Curious though... Is Petra getting mobbed by tourists, or is it still fairly off the beaten path?

YEs, I've heard of the potty project, and it sounds good to me. A core from which they can rebuild, holding the vital water systems, the bathroom and the kitchen.

Sad, desert movie time!

"God Grew Tired of Us" about Kakuna, Kenya (refugee camp) and the Lost Boys who traveled across the desert to get there from Sudan was amazing.

another one to catch, is: (if you haven't read the book)
"The Kite Runner" about two middle eastern boys & their trials growing up.

Two totally tear-jerking movies, (buy tissues before renting!).
