We built ours 2 years ago using the instructions that lilsrra posted, and it worked out great. It looks like the only difference was we used 1" conduit and some of our cutting/punching tools were different.

Building it on our own definitely gave us a great sense of accomplishment- we're not usually very handy!

We put rebar stakes in 4 spots, but even if the worst of storms, it wasn't going anywhere.

Overall, it was nice. The parachute wasn't enough for any type of shade. It really trapped heat inside more than anything. We had to keep opening sides strategically to let any sort of air flow. I'd definitely recommend finding something different. We saw a dome that had windshield sun visors all the way around the dome, and then a swamp cooler tucked in the side. It looked and felt like an igloo inside! Very nice! The other drawback is at about 9' high in the middle, it still doesnt allow for a ton of room around the sides if you're taller, and it gets crowded inside with more than 6 people (though we had some gear taking up space).

It did do better than the Reno Casino that was next to our camp though. Great people, but the dome was too big to handle the winds.
