I gather there is a fairly large underground culture of universal reciprocity in europe that operates all the time, not just in disneyland.
Maybe from his cultural point of view, it wasn't such a bizarre idea?

I felt bad for my friend and paid him face value for my ticket when I got back. I sold the other for like $80 and gave him that too.

The dude form Europe was a nice enough guy but he traveled all that way without knowing that there is a ticket required. Now he was either working a con to get sympathy or it was true and he is just too impractical for words (idiot comes to mind.). The universe may provide everything this guy needs, just not through me. He made a critical mistake far as I am concerned and I let him know it. My words were more gentle than "Hit the bricks."

For the record, I did not stay at Enthion (too crowded) but I did see the food and it was excellent. Worth $200 and much better than I was able to provide for myself.
