They arrived and they are spectacular. Really comfortable and I went rolling around on a dirt road on a windy day - fabby! And the three lenses are great, plus they come in a hard sided case for packing around. Thumbs up from me.

I used these, too, last year.
They worked great, and, were like 12 bucks for two pairs on line.
good tinting, didn't fog, didn't scratch. I'm not sure if the lens is glass or hardened plastic, but, they worked great......side lights, as well........

It's funny, I bought a clear pair of these in '07 as a "backup" to the fancier stuff I bought/tried. They ended up being my favorites. I've bought the tinted ones as well.

These are comfortable to wear for hours at a time, they've never fogged on me personally, even though I work out in the dust at Gate, etc.

Not affiliated with them at all, but I respect when a product is inexpensive and works like a champ.

I haven't gotten these yet, ordered them. I talked to Smith, the company, and they said these motocross goggles had foam filtered vents that would filter the dust. That's what they said. Last year I had road motorcycle goggles that had an unfiltered vent and they didn't work. For the price, $19, I'll try them.

THEY SUCK

Actually, sorry, they work really well, but the stupid cheap foam fell apart. I put them up in my hair and on my hat and shove them in my pack and sweat all over them and fall asleep on them and the foam just got gross and started to peel off by the end of the week. I really am going to have to invest in something with some decent high-density foam against the face.

I liked my cutting goggles but they were a little sweaty.

I want to try the aviator goggles... they just look awesome and 2 of my friends swear by them.

Thanks to Tom Servo, for graciously letting me adopt his old goggles, I'll post some more pics once I have painted them and made them prettty.

I use ESS Profile goggles - they fit my face well, and they keep *all*
the dust out. The ESS Land Warrior goggles are a good bit wider,
and work very well for people with wider faces. The big downside,
is that they are not cheap.

The are designed to accomodate glasses under the goggles, they fit well,
and they will absolutely keep the playa dust out of your eyes.

When it comes to your eyes, function wins over fashion every time.
Do your self a favor, and use a pair of goggles designed for the military,
for the very same environment you'll find yourself in.

They come in a box with a clear and grey lens, and you can find them
new for about $15.00; do not pay more than $17.00, and [u]ensure that
they are new[/u], not good used.

Save yourself the [u]misery[/u], and potential temporary blindness, and pick up a pair for your adventure.

If you want to bring 'fashionable' goggles, just don't use them in the dust.

They will not filter out the micro-fine particles of playa dust.
I'm sure they work great elsewhere, but foam filtered vents
sound like a [u]very bad[/u] idea. When you get them, have
someone use a flour sifter and a potable fan. If you end up
without flour in your eyes, stamp them playa approved; big
IF.

I really can't see how the ESS profile goggles kept the dust out for you there's a thin foam filter that runs around the entire perimeter of the goggles that isn't thick enough to block the dust. There were 2 others in my camp that had the ess profile goggles as well and they had the exact same experience. We all got ours brand new so unless you got a different or better production run of these or somehow modified yours I really can't see them being at all successful on the playa.

It's the shape of the face for some of the more advanced goggles.

The ESS Profile works great for me, and the Land Ops works great
for my gal.

I've seen almost all of them fail, with the exception of the military
sun/wind/dust goggles. They have more closed cell foam around
the perimeter of the goggles, and they're a much better universal
fit; that's why they're still issue. Their upgraded lenses are much
less expensive too (ESS $90); standard ballistic & two frequencies
of laser protective lenses - green & yellow; both ballistic.

And only $15 - 17 greenbacks new

They are also the easiest when
it comes to goggles over glasses, as they have two notches on the
side to accomodate the arms.

The mistake most people make is that they revove the fabric tape
within the goggle, and thus dust starts filtering in.

I second these. I picked up a pair off eBay for $8.99 last June. I popped in the dark lens during the day and the clear lens before heading out at night.

Do a search on eBay for "SUN WIND AND DUST MILITARY".
