Don't be a flittergibbet and do what you want. I'm glad you're coming to this little shindig in the desert. It's quite the thing!

ack!

www.burningman.com

read **everything** especially the survival guide. these forums are mostly populated by enthusiasts... many people in the world would call us lunatics for wanting to do this thing once much less year after year.

what i'm saying is don't just base your decision on the forum... most of us fucking love it beyond rationality.

I've met people who I thought would be great there and failed to thrive in the environment. I've also met people who I thought would hate every minute of the dirt and noise... and the event worked magic upon them and their lives.

Do some actual research based on fact and not opinion.

Hope to see you there.

If I can give any advice it's to think of this event as a big pot luck festival. Bring something, be that an idea or a game, anything that you can contribute.

Aka Participate don't be an observer.

Some people make trinkets to give away. I have a necklace someone randomly gave me hanging from my rearview mirror, been there now for 4 years. I duh no, it really can be as simple as that. Someone I know said they were going to give letters away this year. "You're an E for sure, here's an E for you."

I personally feel that if you'll get more out of it if you give to it. It won't just be this thing you visited, it will be the thing you visited that you are a member of, a part of the large group of people who made it.

My first year, way back in 96. We weren't sure what the deal was so we were "Alien abduction Reunion Camp" the idea was simply, every member was abducted by aliens and had a story to share. When people visited we told our stories. Funny how most people who visited were also abducted and shared their stories as well.

Haiku camp is another example, of simply having an idea camp.

Spend the next month or so think about what your contribution will be.
