An update's been posted on the Burning Blog, the US District Court has denied Pershing County's attempt to dismiss the case. Read more about it here.

Yes, I think others posted an actual link to the article when it came out. The piece on RGJ's home page today is a new one in reference to the ruling that was made today.

May 8th has come and gone and that was the day the Nevada Senate Government Affairs Committee was supposed to take up the issue of the Federal land and county taxes bill.

I wonder where that stands.

According to the agenda for the committee Today (Friday May 17) at 1:30pm the committee will meet and has AB374 (the bill that prevents counties from imposing taxes on federally permitted events) on it's agenda.

They're fairly different things, which is why the lawsuit is still ongoing (I think was scheduled to go before a judge in September, though that may be getting pushed back into 2014). The bill ensures that local permitting requirements won't interfere with events held on federal land. Regardless of the outcome of the lawsuit against Pershing County, AB374 streamlines the entire process.
