I do wholeheartedly endorse that plan, make friends then join their camp, or invite them to yours!

There are a ton of Israeli burners, and Midburn is considered one of the best regionals outside the US. I would suggest connecting with local burners - and going to Midburn if you can - and go from there.

This is Purfect
Just went and did some research and found the most exciting camp. I will most certainly be camping around there area once locations of BM spaces have been posted and updated. Poly people Unite type of thing. GUUHHH I am so excited for this. BM is already turning out to be more than what I have ever dreamed of and I'm so thankful. Now I'm already gathering gifts to give to my fellow Lovers of the burn.

What a very helpful group of answers thank you! As I was wondering the exact same thing. I think I will come alone, and see just what happens

Bike shop veterans wanting to volunteer at BM 2016!
Hey all! First time burners with shop knowledge wanting to contribute our bike cycles knowledge, time n smiles! I know ive seen posts about volunteering at main camp and/or theme camps n villages that have a bike repair shoppe inside. Wondering if anyone can point us in the right direction or link us? Sorry if this isn't the right board. I'm sure it'll find its rightful place if not. Thanks for any and all info!

You need to talk to Elliot!!

Or message "Elliot" here on eplaya.
Elliot's the nicest guy on the playa and runs a fantastic bike shop camp.

Re: Bike shop veterans wanting to volunteer at BM 2016!
I'm moving this over to the theme camps & villages board, since that's a better fit. While you might get traction with a thread like this, you may care to do some digging around and look for camps that offer bicycle repairs. It's really early in the season, so a lot of camps have not yet started actively posting about their plans (though as Captain Goddammit pointed out, Elliot has already announced his plans)... but if you did a look through last year's partial list of theme camps you might find some outfits that were at last year's event. If somebody's operation looks like something you'd like to be a part of, then reach out to them and let them know you're interested. If you don't see something that intrigues you, hang in there. You may get a response on the thread, but keep your eyes open and you may see additional listings in the months ahead.

We traditionally host on Wednesday so while not official, it's coming from the man, the maker, the mystery, Doc Pyro, the dusty leader of us Barbiebariens! The meet n greet is one of my fav nights . . . .
or is it the first stop of the naked bike ride . . . .
no maybe it's Pancake Pork Out on Saturday with bacon and pancakes, as doc says, feeding the unwashed massess . . . .
no, I think it is hearing doc sing and play the piano, that's one of my fav nights . . . .

Thanks sweetie. I'm learning a few new Tom Lehrer songs (thank you Gaminwench for the songbook) to insult the collective masses.

I would love to hear some Tom Lehrer on playa.
When he lights his streetlamp, it is as if he brought one more star to life, or one flower.
When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
That is a beautiful occupation.

I expect to have at the ready: Poisoning Pigeons In The Park, The Vatican Rag, My Home Town, When You Are Old and Gray, Be Prepared, The Irish Ballad, The Old Dope Peddler, I Got It From Agnes; (hopefully) The Masochism Tango, I Hold Your Hand In Mine, In Old Mexico, and She's My Girl.BoyScoutGirl wrote:I would love to hear some Tom Lehrer on playa.

Several years ago, we re-wrote Be Prepared from a burner perspective; I'll see if I can scare up the lyrics ...

Anyone need a Chef?
Hello, is any camp in need of a Chef?
I am a French trained chef, and can bring amazing food to your camp and/or the playa.
I have been wanting to attend since 2000, purchased my tickets for 2002 and was unable to attend. Life has gotten in my way (rather I have allowed it to de-rail me), and I am so ready now! My kids are older and great artists, but I am more 'stuck' then I have raised them. I have worked at a Mountain Resort providing meals to avid hikers and I know how to rough it. Please contact me if you have a need that I can fill, that in turn can fill my soul! Thank you!
