I think it is November 13th. It is supposed to be jumping. This weekend is the Portland decom. 3 days of camping and booze.

did you do contact improv with Jane?

Seeing as a yawn is a sign of a lack of oxygen to the brain I could really see this happening.
sorry to myth bust

turns out this aint true

recent sociological research has shown a correllation between yawning and a change of activity state. This is why yawning seems to be contagious.
The only problem with the excess CO2 theory is that research shows that it may not be true. In 1987, Dr. Robert Provine and his coworkers set up an experiment to test the theory that high CO2/low O2 blood content causes yawning. Air is normally made up of 20.95% O2, 79.02% N2 (nitrogen), 0.03% CO2 (and a few other gases in low concentrations). The researchers gave college students the following gases to breathe for 30 minutes:

Gas #1
100% O2
Gas #2
3% CO2, 21% O2
Gas #3
5% CO2, 21% O2
Gas #4
Normal Air

Breathing 100% O2 (Gas #1) or either CO2 gas (Gas #2 and #3) did cause the students to breathe at a faster rate. However, neither CO2 gas nor 100% O2 caused the students to yawn more. These gases also did not change the duration of yawns when they occurred.
It is possible that yawns are contagious because at one time in evolutionary history, the yawn served to coordinate the social behavior of a group of animals. When one member of the group yawned to signal an event, all the other members of the group also yawned. Yawns may still be contagious these days because of a leftover response (a "vestigial" response) that is not used anymore. None of this has been proven true and yawns are still one of the mysteries of the mind.

nah, last i heard KK got married in Korea. Matt got to see him some when he was stationed over there. i still wish Klayton would have become a country singer instead of joining the army. do you have contact info for him??

hey, do you remember Angel Brasell? i miss that girl....

Anne and i didn't get along AT ALL, but i adore Jane. If there's anyone i'd want to turn out like, it's her.

the Zmolek scandal happened right before i started taking dance. i would have had capoeira with them, though.

it's a little embarrassing; i'm digging deep into places and people i rarely think about anymore to catch a name and a face for you (that isn't a stage pic - lovely, btw!). I'm so close!

Remember Mike Speck?

We used to call him Black Speck.

Hold on, I'll get around to posting a couple pics of me with Angel. By the end of the day, they should be up.

Confused about this.... what do you mean? It's directly from the show...

I'm trying desperately to get ahold of your face, too... I know it's there in the recesses of my memory. I wish Klayton would have become a singer, too.

I DID have capoeira with the Zmoleks. I also was right in the middle of that scandal, as Brian Winter was a good friend of mine... both he and Kurt....

Isn't Jane one of the most beautiful people you've ever seen in your life?? And those twins.... OMG. I got to do contact imprtov with her WHILE those little boys were bouncing around in her belly... amazing energy...

oh, no, i mean, i'd like to see a photo where you don't have stage makeup on and all of that. i wasn't negating that it IS a stage shot.

i never really knew what happened with the Zmolek scandal. i'm really confused now because Kurt and i hung out straight time part of my freshman year. i dated his roommate actually, so of course Brian was a part of my Luther experience too. Though we didn't see so much of them after they had their little drama.... and there was significant drama between me, my roommate, Kurt's roommate, and my two friends who were dating for a time. so with all of that Kurt and i didn't get to see each other much later on. (now, doesn't that just sound like Luther??)

sometime we should meet in person... you'll have to fill me in....

i'll have to show you pics from the trip that Kurt and I and our respective roommates took to Iowa City.

i've lost track of so many people from there.... one way or another... 3-4 years away will do that though. i had to get out of that place. it was terrible for my mind. contact and the symphony almost got me to stay, but in the end even they weren't enough.

did you ever got to the cave parties?

Oh the Cave. Occaisionally. It was never really my cup o' tea... I didn't like being trapped out there, cold and drunk, REALLY wanting to go home, but with no ride back to campus...

and yes, the brian/kurt scandal was chaotic... too much to write... we'll just have to meet sometime over a beer or three...

I'll try to find something without makeup (though I really didn't have much on in that show)... almost have that pic of Angel and I up...

Were you in any student pieces or anything? I did In God We Trust, and directed my own one woman piece in 2000.... (perhaps you went to the Seniors: Exposed show??)

no. music and theatre were always in direct conflict.
it was one of the many things about LC that pissed me off. they swore up and down on Martin Luther's corpse that i could be a successful double major, but it wasn't true in practice because of performance conflicts. i did most of my theatre studies in the Med, after i met Luther.

that's the thing that's getting me - you look super familar in the LSH shot, but you look even more familiar in the recent shots on your website. i'm delving into the yearbooks tonight for sure.

you aren't from here, are you? i think there were only 2 or three seattlites at the school when i was there.. how'd you make your way out here?

glad to see i wasn't the only one (ostensibly) that didn't get engaged at that damn waterfall and married in the CFL.

yes, let's get drunk and share twisted luther drama stories.

hey, what's the name of that bar that was a converted stable thingy? that was my favorite. though i have to say, i was never much of a 'golfer'.

oooh, wait, i think i might know who you are...

Hmmm, stable bar? Not sure... I remember the Haymarket, Cele's (I reFUSE to call it Average Joe's), that one meat market where everyone went to get drunk and then go home with someone... what the hell was that called?

Funny: I started out as a vocal music performance/theatredance major... then dropped the music because of the same reason: they always conflicted...

No, I'm from Minnesota. I ended up out here a year ago... with Lynn Christianson --hey, did you know her?-- she was a dance minor at luther...

Oof, yeah, no marriage for this pixie... blech!

Long hair natural? Do you mean, is that my real hair? Yes. But I've had it short short short (like it is now) since my second year there...

jeebus. this is so strange.

remember Josh Visser? he and i were the self esteem ballerinas - cause we made everyone else feel so good.

Yeah, i know lynn. We had contact together. i love that girl. what's miss sasskrotch up to these days? we lost touch completely.

Haymarket's the one. word has it is WAS a stable once. AJs blew and everyone knew it. that other one you're on about - the one where the freshmen went in too little clothes in the wintertime? by the pizza place, just off campus? it was cool at, say, 3pm on a sunday. other than that... lets just say i had to be in the right frame of mind. i did take someone to the hospital from that bar once.

i took voice (but never practiced) from Greedy.

I will make sure to figure out some way to catch up with you at Seacom. At Portland Decom I will be easy to find. I will be greeting on Saturday from 4p-6p then at around 9p or so I will be playing my live show in the ambient barn after the man burns. If you get there on Friday I will be greeting from 10p-12a and then playing from 2a-4:30a in the big barn. Other than that just ask around for Jason Philips.

Oh and here are your shots...

She's here in Seattle. She's changed. She went to Taiwan for 9 months to teach english, and she changed, bigtime. We roomed together here (well, and at luther) for our first year, but we grew to hate each other... we'd just both changed so much. So now, we live seperately, talk more than we did when we lived together, and are doing much better. We did contact here for a while, but the contact scene here is really cliquey... I stopped going. She's still very active, I think. We're not CLOSE anymore, that's for sure. But we still talk.

holy shit.

i was taking contact here recently, but stopped because my back problems were making it a bad plan. i may still make it to open flight sometime; i went to the velocity jam once but sundays are notoriously busy for me and it DID seem pretty closed. my body's forgotten much of what it used to know.

did you know that martin keogh is here next month? i still worship that man.

yeah, i'll definitely have to see both of you. it will be interesting to see how the years have changed us all. i mean, i wasn't even a homicidal maniac back then! no, i mean, really - i would have laughed my ass off had anyone told me what the last years would hold.

hey, a round on me! celebration for putting the pieces together.
cheers, all!
