a certain southern Tomcat is coming to Hudson Wisconsin to visit a friend and May 6th is his Birthday. Or is he? did I get the date wrong?

does anyone else feel like you have to go down a dark back ally and turn on another one, go past the backwater of lost and found to get to open discussion and the bar,... Not really a bad feeling but kind of odd

I see your truck! Sweet!
I kept the topper off my old truck, it's green and my newer truck is red. Like Minnesota Wild colors!

OMG, I was going to write that exact thing, Z!! scary....

I’m redoing the topper. The one in the pic is canvas. Had some minor (very minor actually) problems with leaking. Even after sealing seams, canvas, etc. I’m making another one out of tonneau cover material. Same color, but more weather proof.

Ok no It's not really my truck I have a 1990 ford convention van but I spent some time looking at old Cab-overs on ebay and designing campers for them. spending my free time in fantasy

Yeah, fair enough... I spend some time there too, fantasy-land that is.

I’ve thought very seriously about building a gypsy wagon that would slide into the back of my truck, like any other slide in camper, but with funk!!!

Not this year, maybe next...

I remember getting a book out of the library that was called something like, Homes on Wheels and it had all homemade houses made onto vehicle chassis. Was really cool!

I think AntiM has us all beat for BIG trucks with a pic of Larry's truck. But I think that old cab-over pic is neat looking.

Before I bought a camping trailer two years ago I thought about building one, chop sprayed fiberglass over foam insulation on a steel or aluminum trailer frame,... If I win the lottery maybe, but by the time you add up all the guts ( water system, stove, fridge and such) it would be way more expensive than the $3,000 I spent on the old trailer

Yeah, I’m thinking a simple frame with 3/8 plywood for the basic structure of the gypsy wagon. Then lots of gingerbread trim and such. Oh, and copper for the roof... My trucks a diesel so it won’t much care about the extra weight.

Someone around here has a nice homemade plywood topper. They stained it and it is very nice looking. Just a small sized one, not taller then the truck.

Lets see maybe 15 sheets of 3/8 plywood some 2x2 framing, some paneling for the inside, and a few weekends ( sure just a few weekends ) and you've got it. go for it Chat!

Oh, if I do it, it’ll look like the camper in Z's avatar. Stand up in it and everything.

I did think about doing a low profile camper in plywood, but I just like the look of a fabric draping over the struts, I guess.

There are some beautifully build things out there, I've seen some topers made like they were making a cedar-strip built canoe. I think that was the classiest I've seen in person.
