In the meantime, asshole partner is still an asshole, but I've been given license to shoot back.
The only problem is, he's stopped emailing me since I so grossly offended him. I have a conference call today with him, so I can gently push some more buttons.

Urge to kill rising. I sent an email to our idiot partner and his lawyer telling them we did not consent to something and they should under no circumstance do what they were threatening.
The lawyer's response?
"Another woman in my life telling me what to do!"
I'm pissed enough, but then my father and our president come in an tell me how funny that was. I told them it was not funny, but rather deeply insulting to a woman. I'm normally the funny, hahah, no joke too crude person, but oh that pissed me off. I hope I didn't overplay my hand with them. Sometimes being a woman in a male dominated corporate world sucks.

Snert.
We're already nearly in a lawsuit with them. Like I said, sometimes it just sucks being a woman. I'm a part owner in the damn business, I'm not going to sue myself, my father or a guy that's like a brother to me. It's just frustrating how tone deaf people can be sometimes. My dad I get. He's 72 years old. I'm just impressed he got to the point where the daughter was a viable successor and not just the son.
But Michael was a bit of a shock. He didn't mean anything by it, it's just easy to forget that a woman might have a different reaction when 90% of the execs in an industry are men. And frankly, I only react to this sexist shit when it's pretty egregious, so never to him before. He's usually a lot more sensitive.

Response: "Wrong on both counts, kiddo. I'm not just "another woman", and I'm not telling you what TO do, I'm telling you what NOT to do. Comprende? Or do you need me to dumb it down so you can understand?

That should light a match to start a fire under his worthless ass. And you could copy and paste it, and tell him it was a suggestion from a maniacal hippie burner.

He's trying to get a rise out of me and succeeding. His client is lying to everyone, including the lawyer and he knows it.
Right now, the lawyer reacts poorly to being told he is not a partner in the deal and not entitled to anything. I'm going to continue to rub that one in. Shame on him for hitching his wagon to a man with no shame, loyalty or basic human decency.
I actually have the tiniest amount of sympathy for him. He's working for nothing but a handshake from a man who wouldn't just steal the rings off your fingers, but probably the fingers too.

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
If he's not a partner in the deal, then ignore him. Don't give him sympathy, either. They call this type of lawyer in the personal injury business an "ambulance chaser". They tend to learn the hard way when the ambulance stops in front of them and then starts backing up.VultureChow wrote:He's trying to get a rise out of me and succeeding. I anticipate needing only one lawyer for the rest of my life, and I'm trying to avoid that. It'll be for my last will and testament. The United States has 1 lawyer for every hundred people here. That makes them almost as numerous as used-car salesmen, and ten times what Japan has for its society. The only ones I've met that are worth a tinker's damn are patent lawyers. They have to have an engineering degree as well as a pocket protector.
I'm not going to get started on my 'attorney' rant. In Great Britain, they refer to legal minds by their proper name, solicitors. What does that tell you? Maybe you can think of yourself at the moment as being like Rumpole's significant other. 'She who must be obeyed'.
I higly recommend John Mortimer's Rumpole series.

Thanks guys. Not going to say it's a better day today, cause frankly it's not, but I've got a nice weekend of BM stuff planned, plus a trip to go hunting for shark teeth. I think I need to use my down time to accomplish things since I seem to run on an endless hamster wheel of angst at work.
Mentioned again to my mother that I'd love to take her to Burning Man one day. I'd have to do an RV, and she would not want to stay for the whole thing, but I think she would genuinely enjoy it. She loves meeting new people and exploring new things. I told her I'm thinking about a piece of art for the open playa in 2015. And she immediately said she wanted to go and see it. So I've got that going for me.

Pretty much... he did get the pickup emptied the evening we got home, and put the rocks we found in the garden, and a few other things I can't do easily... then off to Idaho the next morning. He should be back tonight, the big chore is climbing on the roof and opening up/plugging in the swamp cooler. Maybe paint the carriage lamp in the front yard. He already is slated for a run Sunday morning.theCryptofishist wrote:I have a vision of your getting out of the truck and going straight to work, not even unpacking, AntiM.

Glad you're going to have a nice weekend. While you're thinking about the endless hamster wheel at work, think again about how our McDonald's culture is trained for it. They have a 'play palace at McD's where the little kids crawl in the tubes and have fun. I always thought of it as a 'habitrail for rug rats"VultureChow wrote:Thanks guys. In other words, the training grounds for the hamster wheel at work.
Shark teeth, eh? We only have a few of those here, but they're all Mississippian geologic period aged stuff. Back then, they hadn't developed the fearsome incisors that sharks possess today. Instead, they had crushing-type molars in the jaws. Perhaps they had to have them to crush up and consume the armored fish that swam around back then.
Here's an example from Ohio:

It's from the Osagean stage of the Mississippian period, and are pretty hard to find in this area.
'Down time' is sooooooo valuable I can't put a price on it.
