they've got a great album called "Tears of Stone" with an amazing assortment of female singers singing with them...samtzu wrote:The Chieftans... everything... Jesus H. Christ! If you're into Celtic music, check out the Fiannacats.
They're a local band and they're Saturday Market Stage regulars. As they set up, I saw drums, violin, mandolin, bass guitar and went, "Hmmmm! This Looks Promising!" They played last on the last outdoor day in November and for that whole hour they were onstage, if you were within hearing range, you literally could not hold still. They had the whole place ragin', dancin', going off and jumpin' like to put an Old Southern Baptist church service to shame from Note One. We didn't sell a damn thing when they were on but they were so good nobody cared
I imagine the recorded version doesn't measure up to their live energy but there can't be that much lost in translation

"Tears of Stone" I don't have, but Another Country, Long Black Veil, The Wide World Over, and the one with Van Morrison, etc. I literally cannot get enough of these guys. I still need to get the one with Nancy Griffith and Roger Daltry... but that will come...
By the Way... I'm now listening to "The Rocky Road To Dublin" with the Rolling Stones... Jesus, these guys are good....

"Stressbusters," an album full of mellow classical pieces. Lots of Grieg and Williams and Fauré. 'S been a rough couple of days, I need to deflate :/
If the Greensleeves Fantasia doesn't do it for me, I'm reaching for Mythodea again and cuing straight to Movement 10.

Soothing music just aggravates me when I'm stressed. MY pulling-my-hair out pieces are all of a cathartic bent.
Right now, though, I'm listening to Letters to Cleo and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
