Diluted Gatorade is the perfect desert beverage. Other people use something called Emergen-C, I think. And you can eat salty snacks.

Oh, and I won't be bugging you to repair a bike: planning on walking for my first burn (thoughts?). I'm a minimalist, and It just seems like less of a hassle than renting a bike (I'm flying in), making sure it doesn't get stolen, and bringing it back after the burn in tip-top shape... I also feel I'll take in the burn more fully on a slow-paced route, traveling through the city by foot rather than rushing from one end to the next on a bike. That way I'll leave more space for spontaneity and immediacy, just welcoming whatever the playa throws at me each second. Do you agree with my choice? Or should I just spend the extra money to be more mobile (and run the risk of contracting playa ass)?

Based on your statement, I expect you will enjoy being on foot. And the "elder" wisdom to go with that would be to wear a wide-brimmed straw-hat with a neck-string that can be snugged up tight, and a small back-pack with three quarts of water and one quart of Gatorade. One of those quarts of water is for pouring onto the hat.
I will def take a hat to block out the unforgiving blaze during the day. I also have a meticulously planned little satchel to carry my essentials around during the day. The extra water to pour on the hat definitely seems like it could help . Sorry Elliot, didn't mean to be stupid... need to choose my words better! So much for my introduction to you all
