And some people still oppose court-ordered sterilization.Monday, 01 April 2013 17:48 Lake County News reports
CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Sandra Lee Gxxxxxx, 42, was arrested late Saturday night after she allegedly assaulted her ex-boyfriend and was found driving drunk with their young son in the vehicle.
Clearlake Police were dispatched to Meadowbrook Drive on a report of a female who had consumed a large amount of alcohol and was attempting to leave a residence in a vehicle with her 5-year-old son inside.
...high rate of speed...
Officers caught up to the vehicle on Highlands Harbor Drive. It was determined that Gxxxxxx was intoxicated and she was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and child endangerment.
Additional investigation indicated that Gxxxxxx and her ex-boyfriend, the father of the 5-year-old boy, had been in an argument prior to officers arriving. The ex-boyfriend had visible signs indicating he had been battered by Gxxxxxx, who also was charged with domestic violence.
During the investigation it was determined the father of the child also had a warrant for his arrest and he was taken into custody.

so I cancelled a small building permit I took out, deciding not to go ahead with the project.
The county wants to send and inspector out, to inspect, what I didn't do, to be sure I didn't do it, I guess........
I have no love for building inspectors, and am trepidatious regarding said visit. There may be non conforming items.

ah back to crappy weather here in the NW. But that is the norm.
sorry to hear about you having to shelf your Building Idea Ygmir. there really aught to be a way for "non code conforming" Ideas to be tried. I'm sure the innovations to the standardized way would be worth it. Froogem!

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
Perhaps you are worrying for nothing, Ygmir. My experience from building my barn is quite different. The building inspector here was very pleasant and helpful.ygmir wrote:... I have no love for building inspectors...
But that reminds me of the poor man's recent misfortunes. ("News item" coming up.) After nine years as Plans Examiner and Chief Building Inspector, Scott was recently laid off. The city is so broke that it must make do with a lower-paid staffer. Then Scott's own house fell down around him. Literally. There is some sort of slow earth-slide going on in his area, and several houses look like a major earthquake hit them.
So if your county needs a building inspector, Ygmir, there is a good one immediately available.
Now I'm going out to fabricate a part for a neighbor's motorcycle. Somehow he wound up with the wrong part, and now I have to modify the heck out of it. If he had been a little bit brighter, he could no doubt have had the correct part delivered to his door for just a few bucks. But he ain't that bright. Real friendly pleasant neighbor, though.
Carry on!

A new sledding record was set in Norway over the weekend. The record is for Most People On One Sled. A giant tarpaulin was used as the sled, and the required speed and distance were achieved. Photographer Svein Sjølie captured the event with a wide-angle lens.
Sjølie is expected to recover. He is reported to be laughing at his mistake, but perhaps not much, what with the broken ribs and stuff -- resulting from being smooshed by 510 people on a runaway tarp.

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
Boo on snow and crappy weather. Sure it's the northwest and the land of lake effect and whatnot, but now that we're into April things should be a bit more springy. Things here seem nice as I look out the window, but otherwise I haven't really been out in it much. Lots of fun stuff happening, I wish there was more time in the day to get to it all.
I don't blame you for being reluctant to have someone out, Yggy. Even if there was no cause for concern I'd be freaked out that the guy would wave his arm and say some thing that's been there forever wasn't up to code and would have to come down. Of course I'm still a bit twitchy after the whole building inspector/code thing that forced us into the move anyways.

It's amazingly beautiful here today - 70's, blue sky, and purple lupine wildflowers on the roadsides. Wish you were all here.

Hi yg, nice pictures!
Still kind of chilly most mornings, but we've had another mild winter overall here in KY. Temps ranging from high 30°s to high 50°s mostly now. Trees should be starting to bud out and begin to become perceptively greenish here in the next few days! Yay that! I spent a good part of the weekend cleaning the yard, picking up sticks and all. Had my first bonfire of the year, stayed with it until it was nothing but glowing embers before finally watering it down. Very peaceful..
ASD, I'll try and let you know if/when I hear more. You are on the west coast right?
Well, better get back to it..

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
Sorry 'bout the snow, Simon, if it makes you feel better the weather here was very nearly perfect last night. When my gf got home last night we took a stroll up the street to grab dinner at a local bistro we've been wanting to check out, and all I needed was a sweater. The skies were clear, the place and the neighborhood were great, and for bonus points we ran into some friends that live a few blocks away. Things really worked out well in the move, I feel like it was an upgrade in both living space and neighborhood.
Today I hope to get Depeche Mode tickets, work more on my ziggurat design, and sort out some stuff for the GLC/regional summit this week. I'm not giving a talk or anything, but will hopefully get to meet some folks and talk up the boards and help out if I can.
