The moral of the story:

You can go to the curated organized thing in the desert for 20 years and still learn absolutely dick about surviving out there.

This reminds me of Ridley Scott Alien movies he is milking in his old age; all kinds of badass people making all the wrong decisions.

To my stuck in the mud post. Sand plates are great. Just don't be standing to the rear of the traction. As you are getting out with them, they can be thrown with enough force to cause a compound fracture. Some driver friends saw that happen with an inexperienced crew in the middle of bum fuck nowhere.

For some good news -

Watching the live feed I do wish I was on Playa right now and to be honest everything seems to be going well. Time may prove me wrong but I think a non-burn is the way to go from now on. After all, it's all of us that make it what it is. Not to mention that the lack of amenities will go far to keep the event from continuing down this PNP Instagram bucket list path that it's been on for far too many years. I'm Ok with the BORG continuing on with everything that it values most since the actual event is low on that list.

Non-Burn every year!

I appreciate this guidance, because I have never been in this situation.

I like to THINK I would anticipate not doing this, but . . . everyone is inexperienced or stupid at one point.

So, thank you.

Did you guys hear some absolute idiot brought and lost a MONKEY?
The Org wouldn’t allow exotic animals (or really any animals) and this Einstein said “hey, there’s no one to tell me I can’t do it now” so he did, then it escaped from its enclosure out there.
I’m opposed to excessive rules and regulations, but I guess some people need them.

What? What do you mean there’s a monkey running round loose out here. We just got here. We set up on the outskirts of what I guess is the city. Some guy bicycled up and ask were 6 o’clock spoke was. I told him this just wherever you park there is no Crescent or anything out here. He said no there’s a 6 o’clock then bicycles way. There’s A lot of people out here. Sound camp paradise you can hear him battling each other out. Big desert so you could move far away.

Monkeys it had to be monkeys….

^^ CGD Yes that has been reported

Every single BMORG rule is the result of stupid burners doing something stupid. The rules exist in an insurance/BM legal feedback loop. As soon as the BMORG becomes aware of a safety issue which could become a liability, they are bound to make a rule to ban it. All IMO and pure speculation of course.

More stupid = more rules.

BMORG Rules
Lasers - staff blinded 2014
MV - a friend of mine saw Katharine Lampman perish 2003
Structures - 6 injured 2006
Pets - neighbors had a dog in my early days. Bringing pets is animal cruelty, but a strong temptation to burners
MOOP stuff - shit resto picks up and could literally end the event under the leave no trace permit
Photo/video - abused by burners including porn
Consent - abused by burners to the LEO level, and it discourages ticket sales

Fuel, fire, explosives, fireworks is obvious. A wildfire driven by wind in our tent & RV city is inevitable because people are stupid. It will end the event. I myself had to intervene in the moment running and screaming "no, stop" with a neighboring camp trying to pour gasoline into a fire that was not starting fast enough for them. In my area, we just had two people perish and one more with 65% burns just barely surviving because people threw fireworks into the dumpster of an apartment building.

Legal System Rules
The Black Rock Playa is under the legal system of the federal, state, and county laws. It is not a Temporary Autonomous Zone. If you want that, you want Peter Thiel's waterworld.

Firearms - LEO does not want gunfights
Drones - federal rules because we have an airport
Food - you do not want to give people food-borne illness in the middle of nowhere

Speeding seems to be the sin of the day.

Motorcycles ,dirt bikes, mini bikes, dune buggy‘s ,sand rails ,Volvo station wagon, A fuckiing brand new red convertible Mustang with the top down and he’s using it to drive all over the desert …with the top down.

if they can spin a doughnut and put a ton of dust in the air…..or go real fast in the desert that’s what’s happening today.

It’s like watching land speed attempts.
We’ve seen an ambulance go out a couple of times.
Renegade burn indeed.

Norbert Croydon · 10h ·
*NOTICE POSTING IN SEVERAL RENEGADE MAN GROUPS*

If you are currently attending Renegade Man and can help with any leads we will be eternally grateful Last night Mr Coco, beloved pet and companion of one of our Special Needs Burners, escaped from his enclosure, a simple one-in-a million mistake when cleaning his cage. Old-Timers will remember the Petting Zoo of 2000 well they never allowed exotic animals again and that is why we brought him this year since BMorg couldn't say no. Usually Mr Coco spends his time on a 40 acre exotic animal rescue in Kerns County about 40 miles outside of Bakersfield, he entertains children at parties and loves ppl so we thought we'd make him an exotic honorary Burner but we are pulling our hair out looking for him He is NOT dangerous please if you spot him contact us asap do not contact law enforcement We are at the Rt 66 Regents camp near Hot D bar Sno Cone Camp and Rogue Nation our location if u have 3wordsApp are regents/lasso/megavolt thank you🙏🙏🙏

Yeah… I bet this fucktard doesn’t want anyone to contact law enforcement.
And yeah… it sounds like it’s going about how I figured. That’s why I decided not to show up for this one even though 2020 turned out great.
BTW, I was there in 2000 and don’t remember a petting zoo with a live monkey.

For a non-burning man event….. you sure saw a lot of Official burning man trucks running around.

They did the man with drones.

I would do it again.

I'd actually like it to be an unofficial burn from here going forward. But with that there will probably be more injuries and deaths and looking at the live feed right now it seems like several vehicles left stains on the Playa.

The participants have proven that it can be pulled off without all the bureaucracy of the BORG. I also think the added emphasis on radical self reliance will help steer the Non-Burn back to it's roots. As long as the aftermath doesn't look like the day after Electric Forest I'd be all in for a non-official Burn next year. There is also the question of whether it turns out to be a "super spreader event".

I am actually excited to hear first hand reports once everyone returns.

It was pretty awesome. The first morning (Saturday) on playa I stepped out of the travel trailer and counted 75 camps in a 180 degree sweep. The more playa than camps ended shortly after that. It was great to spend the first few days with my GF and putter around setting up camp and taking it easy. That was a really nice time. The most ethically questionable thing I saw out there was the dogs running around not leashed and not healed to their owners. There were people driving at irresponsible speeds through the camping area throughout the time I was there. Lots of people just don't understand the danger involved with that. I never once saw shit on the ground....plenty of piss spots though. It was really refreshing to set up camp unconstrained. It got cold at night so it was fun to have a fire. It was really great for everyone in camp to be able to drive the golf cart around on missions or to sight see. All in all the people seemed more nice that usual and pretty much everyone we talked to demonstrated that they got it. I got to act as placement as I had the camp data on my GPS app and a few people stopped by asking where they were. Saw some old friends, met Doc Pyro and adopted some campers. Also did one of my best Playa repairs by reinstalling a valve push rod on to a rocker arm as it had fell down on the job and was not functioning. That was an interesting diagnosis process. It was a great time and it was fun to have more spacial freedom than doing a bordered theme camp yields.

A friend was there and sent a link to a live stream camera that helped bring it all back for me.

Then, I think it was Friday into Saturday, I woke from sleep for a pit stop and thought to see what was happening on playa. Heavy partying. At 2:55 a.m. a white car drove into view and stopped. A woman got out and ran into the crowd. A moment later, the driver, another woman, got out, leaving her door open, and walked around to the far side of the car to look at an "art car". A fellow walked into view, stopped for a moment in front of the car, then walked quickly and got in and started to drive away! The woman turned, realized what was happening and took off running. She didn't get two steps before tripping and landing full prone, She got up and took off after the guy but he was clearly gone. Grand theft auto for all the world to see.
In the ensuing live commentary, the camera engineer reviewed the tape and recorded it on a cell phone, said s/he was posting it to Reddit. Others thought it was hilarious -- some sense of humor.

thanks BVB! Well, if a prank, quite the prank. Though I'm going with grand theft auto. The only thing I do notice to give hope is to me it looks like brake lights come on at the end.
