Had a serious injury at BM 2000.

Wednesday morning. Was being towed behind a mtn. bike on a 3 wheeled mtn. board via a tow rope. The front wheel turned tightly and collapsed, I pitched forward landing with all 210 lbs on my knee. Bent the knee backwards, tearing PCL, ACL and Medial (didn't know it at the time, but relaized i was serious FUBAR when my knee rolled arounf like a joy stick when I tried to stand up. Was driven to Gerlach for xrays, no diagnosis possible. They wrapped the knee in a brace and told me to get an MRI once the swelling went down, likely a week or so. Gave me a few vicodin.

I went back to BM, and fashioned a cane. Hobbled around through till Monday morning.

Drove myself back to Santa Cruz, in a cantankerous old landcruiser.

Had an MRI on Tuesday. Diagnosis? Knee needs serious surgery.

Had arthroscopic to repair torn medial and PCL. Acl required a sliver from the knee cap to build a replacement. After recovery had complete life altering change. Divorce. Lay-off. New career. New wife. New family.

Doing fine now.

Note to self: stay of skateboards.

1998 post-event (weekend after) I went up to the playa to help with clean up. Had 30-40 big trash bags and was tossing a loaded one in the back of my truck. Blew out my right elbow and had to have orthoscopic surgery after wiping my ass with my left hand became unbearable.

(Seeing as how AZ resurrected this thread)

Not to make light of anyone's injuries in the past but...

This year I plan on having a bruised shin from smacking it on the tailgate of my truck, a swollen finger from a spider bite from the crap motel in Reno on my way in, a blood blister somewhere on my hand from rebar/hammer/lameness, a fat lip from walking into something Tuesday night, and that's probably about it this year. I hope.

Favorite injury? Two very sore, very black and blue ass cheeks from a very thorough, professional and entirely deserved spanking.
Second? Saying, "Oh, that big scar on my elbow? I was trying to slide out of a giant, roving gumball machine without spilling my margarita."
Lots of odd bruises, cuts and scrapes, bruised egos, hurt feelings, that sort of thing. Nothing gothic, and truly, I'm so thankful when I learn of the people who were seriously hurt. I feel for you, and I know how easily it could be me, too.
Worst injury this year? A broken heart, I guess, because I'm not coming, but that's ok because everything in its season, and I'll be back. Have a great, great, great time for me!

I did not go this year (2004), but last year, I had a few injuries, most all my fault in one way or another.
skinned knee - was riding my bike, and didn't see my neighbor's tent strings and poles, crashed into those, flipped over my handle bars, thankfully landed on my knees and not my face.
large lump on my forhead - got in a fight with my love, stormed into the RV, tried slamming the bathroom door, it bounced back and slammed me in my head on the night of the burn.
15 bruises - sources unknown
blisters on my feet - walking around in new shoes
cuts on my ankles and heels - sandles that didn't fit right
cuts on the bottom of my feet - gave up on shoes, walked around barefoot.. *sigh* bad idea..
sore bottom - got pushed off the train thing by a drunken irish man, landed on my tooshy.
And I think that was all.. But despite the injuries, I had a wonderful time, and I am devistated I could not attend this year.

Very very depressed because I'm not there this year after two of my friends decided to go and wishing that I had said the fuck with it and jumped into the car. And now I can't see it burn on the webcam....and I can't find any footage from last year's burn. I want to show it to my husband who has never been.
