The annual event now known as Burning Man began as a bonfire ritual on the summer solstice in 1986 when Larry Harvey, Jerry James, and a few friends met on Baker Beach in San Francisco burned an 8-foot (2.4-meter) wooden man as well as a smaller wooden dog. Harvey has described his inspiration for burning these effigy figures as a spontaneous act of radical self-expression.

The event did have earlier roots, though. Sculptor Mary Grauberger, a friend of Harvey's girlfriend Janet Lohr, held solstice bonfire gatherings on Baker Beach for several years prior to 1986, some of which Harvey attended. When Grauberger stopped organizing it, Harvey "picked up the torch and ran with it", so to speak. He and Jerry James built an 8-foot (2.4-meter) wooden effigy for 1986, which was much smaller and more crudely made than the neon figure featured in the current ritual. In 1987, the effigy grew to almost 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall, and by 1988 it had grown to around 40 feet (12 meters).

When I was at the Lounge I tried to get a Spring Solstice show going. Artist Sequoia Raven Moon, made that one a true celebration of life a new with her art and the music brought to the show.

She danced with her friends with fire and passion, it was very sexy, and for one night the world got one big raging "hard on"

From that night the Hot Pot Studio started.

Wow, I really have some of you scared out of your minds. And all it took was to point out something good. Very Interesting. Yes very interesting indeed. What a bunch of scared little bullies they turned out to be.

As for you Toolmaker the "hang yourself" reference. I will reserve that for you in your dreams. Please continue to tell me your worst fears. I will file them under "This is going to be fun for me but not for the purple ones." And you are about as "purple" as they come. (A Princess reference would be passe). Facebook is a double-edged sword, hey toolie.

As for those of you that are not part of the "12 Angry Men" puppet brigade, feel free to post what you think is going to happen on 12/21/12

Lets talk about the things we cannot explain but know to be truth.

And any "puppet" that is true is allowed in. You can hide if you are scared. I know the world can be a scary place and having people create "Imaginary Haters" that have no purpose except to scare you way using any means necessary are just so "BORING SYDNEY".

At least my "friends" try to keep in character. Most of these puppets I am dealing with are just schizophrenic hypocrites. I am guessing the people behind them get so worked up they forget to log out and log back in again under the right name.
