just so you know, there are times when you cant see the man. you cant see shit. i got lost last year for 2 hours at night and had no idea which way to start walking to my camp. and i was sober. it was still a blast though. its good to always be prepared. have all your shit on you at all times. period. go buy a back pack, have it packed before you get to the playa and always know were it is at all times. dont leave camp w out it.
these are the things i always have in my pack:
water
snack
chapstick
saline nasal spay
small ziplock bag w a few baby wipes
note pad of paper- you will meet tons of peeps and want their info
goggles
bandanna or dust mask
blinky
bike
lock for bike

Having my dust-colored canvas backpack pre-packed & placed near the box truck door before the playa was great, and one of my favorite improvements for this year's Burn. I arrived after a 3 hour train ride from WA + 5 hours in Portland + a subsequent 12-hour push from Oregon on no sleep, and yet was able to hop on a bike and ride to my volunteer orientation without having to ransack the truck among 5 different bins to load the pack.
Here's what I carry:
* 32 oz. stainless canteen
* baggie w/ bandaids, neosporin & sports tape
* kit w/ eye drops (redness; tears formulas), lotion, gift lip balms
* flask
* jerky & Luna bar(s)
* notebook and 2 pens
* 5-hour Energy
* glowsticks
* sunscreen
* camping t.p.
* sharpie
* kleenex
clipped on to the outside with caribeeners:
* goggles
* cup (1-2)
* hand sanitizer
* flashlight
* CPR mask
(The bike lock lives on the bike.)
