Took me about 15 minutes of knashing of teeth for me too.
The next morning you will wake up pretty much your old self except that a very unusual 16 hours will have been added to your store of life experience.
Re: STEP Details Announced!
Just smash the button, then open in new tab. You might ALREADY be signed in yo

This, this, this!trilobyte wrote:@HappySarah - give yourself a really good slap in the face (lead with either cheek). Now switch hands and slap the other cheek. Now, relax.STEP isn't an instant system - tickets flow at the rate they are contributed. Hint: it's really really slow, ESPECIALLY for the first couple months. People who have tickets but may be on the fence don't usually make up their minds until late spring or early summer. If and when you are successful and you get an email notifying you that tickets are available, there isn't any need to rush. You have 72 hours. Take a deep breath or two, take your time and make sure all your information is correct when you enter it. Burning Man is a marathon, not a sprint.
Thanks again for your clarity and calming voice when we get all revved up about going home.

Yes, I did the same thing as well, just to be safe. I'm all set up now!

Same here - button offers no visual change or other feedback.
When a profile window opens up (took several tries), it says I am signed up for STEP.
Yay for signing up, although this is making a lot of people I'm talking to kind of frantic.

Am I supposed to get any email confirmation (gratification) out of this?

I didn't. Maybe that'd be asking too much of the poor little server right now. =pBeeWeeDee wrote:Am I supposed to get any email confirmation (gratification) out of this?

As with other ticket sale registrations, expect confirmation emails to go out at some point within 24 hours or so from registration. Feel free to visit the ticketing support site (linked in my signature) to check the FAQ or reach out to the ticket team with any questions you may have.

Re: STEP Details Announced!
I don't think they do. In this case, it appears that the pressure point appears to be Wordpress (the platform that Burner Profiles runs on). They're normally known to be a pretty rock solid platform, and they did a great job handling the demand spikes in earlier parts of the process.
It's also not at all uncommon for server issues in the first few minutes of any high demand on-sale/queue/registration event. Things were dicey at first, but the pages seem to be loading as expected for me now. I'm backing away from the server though, since I don't actually have a need to be on the site to register I may as well stop taking up bandwidth.

Re: STEP Details Announced!
When I got to the Sparkly Things and clicked on the ENTER STEP QUEUE button I got some kind of discouraging message...I kept clicking and lastly got a "STEP entry disallowed (200). User exists in STEP queue."
I guess this means that I am in the queue, but the way this whole thing went down, I have no assurance. So, I will continue to seek tickets thru local sources...which should be everyone's primary means. Good luck everyone!
Opps! Edit: I refreshed and got the coveted "YOU ARE SIGNED UP FOR STEP"

Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.

Do the enter and exit thing ... there should be a little graphic where the queue options were saying "SUCCESS! You are in the STEP queue."dragonpilot wrote:When I got to the Sparkly Things and clicked on the ENTER STEP QUEUE button I got some kind of discouraging message...I kept clicking and lastly got a "STEP entry disallowed (200). No idea if it'll help, but it might not hurt to hit ctrl+f5 if you're on a Windows machine. That'll force the browser to ignore cacheing and re-download everything on the page.Wrath wrote:I still don't have an "enter step queue" button.

Will both the confirmations AND any 'ticket available' come direct from burningman.com?trilobyte wrote:As with other ticket sale registrations, expect confirmation emails to go out at some point within 24 hours or so from registration. Just to be on the safe side, I added burningman.com to my gmail's safe sender list. It's done by creating a filter with burningman.com in the From field and marking "Do Not Send To Spam". You can do a search on it, if you'd like to do it yourself, and I would imagine it's similar to most web-based email services.
Good luck, everyone!

Cleared the cache & cookies. Now attempting to get Profiles login page gets me a redirect timeout.Schtev wrote:No idea if it'll help, but it might not hurt to hit ctrl+f5 if you're on a Windows machine. Re: STEP Details Announced!
I just checked in with a couple campmates who were able to get in. Page loads took a few seconds (one in Safari, one in Firefox), but then off it went. The Firefox user said they got some kind of security certificate alert. He turned some kind of blocker off and it went right through (then he turned whatever it was back on again after).

Go here to log into your profile, and then you should see the button on the right side, under where it lets you change your password.

Re: STEP Details Announced!
STEP isn't limited to the number of people who can register. Those who weren't able to get in are simply those who gave up before they got there.
Remember, you may only purchase tickets through STEP if you have not been successful in another ticket sale. If your profile was used to purchase tickets, you may not register to purchase tickets in STEP.
You'll want to use the link for ticketing support in my signature if you're experiencing a problem with your account or the registration process.
