Just more fodder for the OWS movement. I'm telling you this is not going away. An executive at BofA already said one of the reasons they decided to not charge the $5.00/month ATM fee was because of the atmosphere created and lead by the Occupiers.

Additionally, I think there is going to be a larger than expected transfer of money from big banks to smaller institutions. I have already heard report of one Catholic Church that is moving $3 Million out. If that should spread throughout the church, not to mention labor unions and other large and sympathetic organizations, that is going to have quite an effect.

And, it doesn't appear that winter will be dissuading them all that much either, which is what the Republicans were hoping for.

I can accept that as a valid criticism. Though it's difficult to do considering that most of the voices against the movement are shouting from FOX noise.

There's talk of a third party. And a credible path to get there. Which is something that has not been possible before. And, it won't be easy going this time either.

I'd like to see a viable alternative.......or more than one.

I like the fact that OWS has not labeled itself. It is said in the book of Genesis, give a name to every animal in the land so that you (Adam) have dominion over them. As soon as animals had names they were under the control of their human masters. This is the historical origin of the power sought by incantations in witchcraft. Labels are powerful things and the wise understood this as a means of controlling others. This is the reason why God was not given a pronounceable name but "YHVH" because it was not fitting to attempt to control "God". In the same way OWS has not become a definable animal given to a "graven image" that brings idolatry (as in a political leader) and a way to corruption. This may not be an easy concept for some people to understand, but the founders (of civilization) understood these things. The people do not have any chance of escaping a cage that they cannot even see. Therefore it is crucial to first understand the nature of your enslavement.

If OWS gets a name that sufficiently defines it to elites, they have a chance to co-opt the movement and it will go the way of every other movement that has come before it.

I'll have to say that I was at least sincere in my last post. It was a bit high brow but there is a deeper esoteric meaning to what I said. Seriously. Don't equate it with religious zealotry which I am not. I have a philosophical streak and was trained by some of the best minds in this country.

It is important that there is no defined label or agenda. You can point in almost any direction and hit a part of the problem. That in itself is part of the problem. OWS is correct in that the answer lies with the greed of the the elite 1%. If OWS allows a label of any kind to be defined and given them, the elite will bring out the magician, erect the smoke and mirrors and quietly march the elephant off the stage while everyone is looking the other way. Then they will announce that the "issue" has been resolved and everyone can go home now. Those who are not so easily fooled and do not go away will be labeled as dissenters, anarchists and terrorists and removed by force "for the public good".

In no particular order, a few quotes:

"The issue today is the same as it has been throughout all history, whether man shall be allowed to govern himself or be ruled by a small elite." -- Thomas Jefferson

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot." -- Mark Twain

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. ... God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion; what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms." -- Thomas Jefferson to William Stephens Smith, 1787

"Perhaps the meek shall inherit the Earth, but they'll do it in very small plots . . . about 6' by 3'." -- Robert A. Heinlein

"There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty." -- John Adams, 1772

"Those who profess to favor freedom, yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightening. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will." -- Frederick Douglass

"Of liberty I would say that, in the whole plenitude of its extent, it is unobstructed action according to our will. But rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual."--Thomas Jefferson to Isaac H. Tiffany, 1819

"Tyranny is always better organized than freedom." -- Charles Peguy.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self- preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means." --Thomas Jefferson to John Colvin, 1810

"I have a right to nothing which another has a right to take away." -- Thomas Jefferson to Uriah Forrest, 1787. Papers, 12:477.

"Private property is the most important guarantee of freedom." -- F.A. Hayek

"The right of self-defense is the first law of nature; in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and when the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any color or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction." -- Henry St. George Tucker, in Blackstone'ss 1768 Commentaries on the Laws of England.

So, if you people are *really* on strike today, should we expect internet silence?

Do you take BART, or swim?

Will there be fresh donuts, or day-old?

According to the DSM-IV, rationalization occurs "when the individual deals with emotional conflict or internal or external stressors by concealing the true motivations for his or her own thoughts, actions, or feelings through the elaboration of reassuring or self serving but incorrect explanations."
