Since Trilo locked the thread where a person coming in from Germany wants to know whether or not he/she can get a low-income ticket, my question is this: If you're so Goddamn broke with little income, how can you afford to fly all the way from Europe to go to a party in the desert? Shouldn't you be trying to find a job rather than going to Burning Man? If this isn't the best reason I've seen in a long time to trim back the sale of low-income tickets, then I don't know what is. I'm pretty well healed and I cannot afford a vacation to Europe. How can this person then afford to come here if they have no money? Something is seriously wrong in the world and I maintain that Trilo should have given ol' Hans a better answer than he did. But then, that's why I'm not a moderator I suppose.

No shit, Doc. I was staring at the screen saying Whatthefuckdude!? Low income? From Europe? You poor thing, no ticket for you.....

Sorry, Doc. We've been given direction to take the ticketing support questions, point them in the direction of the ticketing support place, and then lock the thread down. Leaving them open gives people the mistaken belief that this is some kind of ticketing support site, and the peanut gallery replies have a tendency to confuse the people who can't figure out the ticket support stuff on the actual ticketing site.

It took all I could muster not to chime in with a similar sentiment. That's some seriously radical self entitlement IMO - privileged enough to not only afford college but also intercontinental vacation travel, but still feel entitled to one of the low income spots? Sheesh.

Yep, same thoughts here. I tossed it to Trilo like a hot potato.

I hate to be picky Trilo, but going to college in Austria is not a sign of privilege. Wouldn't it be nice to have effectively free college in this country...
Public universities in Austria charge a small tuition fee on a per-semester basis depending on whether you are an EU student or you come to study in Austria from a country outside Europe.
Tuition fees for degree-seeking EU students and exchange students

If you are an EU student and intend to study a complete degree in Austria, i.e., you are a so called "Ordentliche Studierende", or you are an exchange student, you are exempted from paying tuition fees at public universities. However, you will be required to pay a small fee of approximately 18 EUR per semester to the Student Union.

If you have exceeded the period of study defined in the curriculum in two semesters you will have to pay EUR 363.36 per semester.

hmmm, one could argue both sides of this.

lets say, for example, you were a venture capitalist and you were asking for funds to finance your party barge...

there is a "jesus story" about forgiveness involving simon pharisees...

however, i don't think it applies here.

who is the more "entitled"? it's hard to tell...

let the games begin...and good luck to all of you out there trying to get your golden tickets today.

Both are pretty luxurious to me, Joel. Whether the state or mommy and daddy pick up the tab on school, there's still plenty of resources for intercontinental travel and all the other related expenses. I'm with Doc, I don't associate that kind of travel with being broke and in need of assistance. Entitlement like that (and as I read the post in question I got the vibe that the poster felt the biggest hindrance to their successful application would be the language barrier), in my personal opinion, makes the whole program look bad.

Hold on guys. He's not traveling here for the event. His post says he's 'in the neighborhood' already. I would want the same thing if there was a burn happening in a country where I happen to be visiting.

Yiggy - Be careful for putting things off too long. It would be a bummer for it to blow at the burn. As you know, Aaarrrr put off his hernia ouches and we had to head to Reno for emergency surgery.

In completely unrelated news, here's my soundtrack to today's nonsense
http://www.trilobyte.me/downloads/Connector.mp3

It's a 2 1/2 hour...ish set I made of the music of the group Underworld. Feel free to play or right click to save/download if you're so inclined. They're one of my favorite groups, after finding that more often than not I was just putting a bunch of their music on shuffle while I worked on art over the last few months, I decided to try my hand at a mix of just their work.

It's almost drinks time. Those getting ready for the madness should probably hit the bathroom and top off their drinks and whatnot.
