Funniest thing from the family turkey dinner this year:

We made a turkey (perfect amount) and then ...

we made ANOTHER 2 TURKEYs for leftovers (so people could take some home and we could eat turkey tomorrow).

we call it the "faux turkey"

up early, karine!!!!

woo hoo

the funniest moment from our dinner was when my sister began her long and often repeated diatribe about her co-workers failings... i look up from my plate and say "My aren't we having some gorgeous weather today." this stips the diatribe dead, a few chucles, some stifled laughter... and she starts in again about the co-workers... she takes a brief drink to get her wind, and I blurt out "It's going to be nice tomorrow too!" much laughter... and she let the topic change to something more pleasant.

i hope everyone had a great thanksgiving.

oh happy happy happy!
Yes ours too was fun filled day of sitting with good friends and wonderful family! My sisters here from L.A., my uncle from S.f. my mom and step-dad, Titwi's daughter and her boyfriend(meant to be in oregon, but ended up here!) Burnerbaby, and a friend of mines Papa John, Titwi and I. I goofed the time line on the damn turkey(21lbs)...should have put the bird in at 7am didnt get it in till 10am...woops...but we all sat around drinking watching footzball!! Yeah miami*
Ate so much, damn near got sick...(could have been all the bubbles in my tummy from mimosa's all morn and afternoon) had to wait a whole hour before I could dive into mom's homemade apple and pumkin pies!
Then Yahtzee started...you know how ya doodle while waiting for your turn to come around again...well cause there was scrap paper, scissors and a gluestick sitting on table, I made a 1/100th of a art area of playa! hahaaa complete with kinetic sculpture and windmill. My uncle is one of those cliff claven kind of people and started to make stupid commets about burningman, so my lovely wonderful burnerbaby went over to the pc and did a whole Powerpoint presentation on the wonderful'ness and gracious loving people who go to burningman! Comlete with pix off the BM site and our personal pics. God I love her...she's such a lil' burner and she's never been...hmmm wonder who that reminds us of???!me!
well folks, just a heads on our day we had...such a wonderful time of the yr to spend with friends and family...to everyone...reach out and experience people! not all the best, but most are WONDERFUL!

Post by Rabbi Dali Rick » Fri Nov 24, 2006 12:04 pm

Ok it's been 8 days in the desert, and it's been fun. It's time to go back into the city for a few days, I'm out of beer and smoke. Beer? you say, isn't there a local store where that is available? Yes but it's about 20 miles (25 min) away and if I leave to go that way I might as well go into LA. I need to check my mail, drop off stuff, pick up stuff and my wife has a plate of Turkey she brought back from her son's in SF that she cooked (I stayed in the desert instead, much better). Next year Thanksgiving here in the desert

Only a few more days till Christmas....

Larry got home yesterday afternoon, but after the insane SIL had scheduled dinner. We wnet over and had leftovers at a table still adrift with dirty plates and half-full goblets of sparkling cider. Drank some of Idaho's finest Merlot, chowed down, there was still lots of everything, and had gingerpumpkin pie for dessert. Did not chow down on my SIL"s sister's stuffing, she used fresh sage and didn't compensate for the difference between dry and fresh herbage. Whew! Visited with the niece and nephews and their SOs, interesting almost adults, very sharp with wiked senses of humor. I swear the one kid could be my own! Listed to Big Butter Jesus on youtube much to the annoyance of my very religious SIL. I try to behave, but it is impossible.

Then we came home and cleaned house for a bit, and then we er, napped. Twice.

No football.

well, how did everyone fare, still alive after mass cosumtion of food?
I have eaten soo much in last 36 hrs...I might actually have gained a couple pounds? And I remember when i was younger about going out to the front yard and playing touch football...hmmm maybe thats why ya get fat when your older...
Had strangest dream last night...something about a paddle"bleacher" going down a river...and the front of it seemed to be taking on water...and the paddle bleacher captain was yelling at me cause I started to cry in fear that we would sink. Then it finally docked, I got off and he kept yelling at me explaining "how sea worthy it was" Just then ZULEGONNA came up and told the guy to chill out, to give me respect that I was scared.

Zule'y you stuck up for me in my dream...I love ya!

i'm back from the land where dreams come true..........yup, we went to DisneyWorld. None of my dreams came true, but my legs hurt and my back is killing me. Fuck. I've used up just about all of my patience standing in 40-60 minute lines for a 90 second ride. I just don't understand how people go there every year.

gotta go do some laundry now.

Any time Pinemom, that asshole had no right to be treating you that way, I think he got so cranked up because you were expressing the way he was feeling about his stinking sinking boat.

Joel that is awesome! So like a burner. You remind me of a friend from grade school. That is exactly the kind of thing he would have said. If he wasn't so convinced that he was a Mormon he would certainly be a burner.
