hiya,
i deleted the empty duplicate and tried to merge the 2 with replies. unfortunately the merging thing wasn't working, so i copied over tiara's answer, but didn't copy over the additional cross-posting thrashes... the 'flaming' thread seemed to have plenty of those.
thanks for letting us know!

this thread should be moved

Not to the 2004 event place--too obscure, I don't know if General Discussion is the best place either.
Q&A or Experiences is my best guess.

I saw that earlier, but wanted to leave it there to see if anyone got why thats funny...
guess not.
I think its getting close to spring cleaning time. What 'cha think? Time to go through and start moving topics around into the right categories?
Ideally, the Index/Overview will explain that, but I think it would be a good idea to straighten things out as well so people can have a better idea of how to keep things organized. Q&A has over 26 pages of topics.
Anyone have any thoughts? Please feel free to bitch about it.

Yes, sort and retire.
Sort, because otherwise it will become chaos. We may or may not like the system, but if we don't keep it it will become worse than not having one.
Retire, because some of the stuff is old. We do want to have access to the wisdom of the past, but 24 pages of topics=1000s of posts and threads, intimidating newbies and cluttering up the place. It's sort of a hard thing--any system and any choice is going to be 2nd guessed. I'd say "anything pre-(chosen date) and more geared towards community and joking around. Useful threads are worth keeping nad threads about the philosopical yeas and neays of children (for instance) are issues that are gonna keep coming up again, so we may want to keep the old discussions and build on them. Maybe trying to prune to a pre-set number of topic pages (4 perhaps) would mean that we get rid of enough dead wood without killing the tree.
IMHO

i would like to hear other's opinions on the fundraising topic. we've let these types of posts remain in the past since they were for burning man groups presumably in support of their camp.
i'm going to leave the one in regional events for now. if the conversation shows that we need to delete the other one, i can do that too.
thanks.

That felt a little "slick" to me, and they do have access in JRS. But then there's just something about DG that raises my hackles. The only valid point is the JRS.

Duplicate posts, unintentionally done:
http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?t=8573
http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?t=8574
The thread ending in 8574 has more views and more poll questions so I'd assume it's the one he wants to keep. But otherwise they appear to be identical and 8573 would be an ideal cleanup target.

The admin team (and several people who were asked to weight in) agreed that this posting is not commerce. It's a job opportunity that In House clearly wants a Burner to benefit ftom.
