But what really amazes me is that oil has fallen another 2% today and is trading at $59.74/barrel, down $1.20. And I thought Barron's Magazine was nuts when they predicted that oil would hit $75/barrel. So why is the local Shell still selling regular at $3.09/gallon?

My understanding is that it takes a week or so for oil to get from source to pump, so we're still paying for the $75 oil till that runs through.

Just paid $3.17 for diesel. 8)

Good Morning Dear Bar !

There are packages I have to mail today.
So despite some "ponding", it is time to hit the road again.
I want to go early because that is my favorite time.

with any luck, some of that rain will drop on Arizona.
I hope all our California people are safe from flooding and especially from landslides!
(I haven't been watching the news)

Meanwhile, it looks like it'll be Friday all day, so, Happy Friday to ALL!

When oil was over $100 a barrel, diesel was about a dime more per gallon than regular 87 octane.

Now the difference is almost a dollar!!!

Regular was $2.29 yesterday. :x

Here in Clearlake, the storm yielded two benefits to citizens.
1: Much-needed water in the lake,
2: Cancelled a City Council meeting.

Morning ASD, Patsh and Elliot and all you lurkers out there. Heavy rain stopped sometime last night. Some flooding shut the Sausalito/Marin City southbound exit from 101, but up here on the hill, all is wet, but seemingly secure. Couple of toppled outdoor chairs is all the damage and we did not lose our power either. Heard there was 10" of rain here in Marin County. Should make a dent in the drought.

Inactivity will drive me peculiar

I think the slow-moving price of diesel has more to do with larger reserve supplies that were bought and produced when the price per barrel was higher. I've heard that the current oil prices are artificially low, because of political games being played to screw over Putin's regime. Half his government's revenue comes from oil and gas exports, the dropping price has devastated them financially. On one hand, hooray for cheap gas, on the other it could force an already unstable guy to do something drastic.

I had a lot of fun yesterday working on arty stuff, and finally feel like I'm wrapping my head around Maya (a fancy 3D modeling program).

The skies here are still gloomy and gray, but I think the worst of the storm has passed. I think we're due for a break in the action over the weekend, then more of the wet stuff. I'm all for it, we're still way under the amount of rain we need to recover from the drought.

I am safe at a motel with wi fi and honestly amazed at the way we connect on the Internet!!!!! The auto club came through with a long tow and ride to hotel. Sadie was texting hotels and ratings and prices as we drove. Unexpected, but good location, at a gas station I knew it was bad, limped a little more to a shopping center, so no highway breakdown trauma. Hot shower and good sleep I hope, and see what's next in the morning. Hugs to ygmir for manning the communications hub.

Good to know that you are ok and near dear Sadie. You got a good gaggle of friends out here in the ether, Elorrum. Hope the car thing gets easily resolved.

I remember when I was in the Navy driving from San Diego to the East Coast and breaking down in Ft Worth. Made a very fast trade for my car for a used Studebaker that had been in a hail storm and was full of dents that looked like bullet holes that didn't make it. Got me back to the 'East Coast and as I recall into the arms of my first bride.

Stay safe dear girl and keep us posted on your progress. (((Sadie)))

Cheers

Thanks, Yggy, for being the messenger. Was getting worried when
I hadnt heard back from her. Good to know it was just her phone
left in the car. I really love the network we are all a part of.
Thanks, Figjam, for calling to make sure I had gotten the message.
Anxiously awaiting her arrival here tomorrow!

Mornin' campers!

Heading into Sacramento today for SantaCon 2014! My friends Sunset, Mary, and Kent will be joining me for "refreshments" at Fanny Ann's and there's an outside chance of a Ygmir sighting there as well. Feel free to dress up as Santa (or perhaps an evil elf) and join us. Ho-ho-hoing begins around 3 p.m.
