Here is the source of our profile pics:

The truth is that I feel I go to Burning Man in pretty decent shape physically, but after all that alcohol intake among other things have me bloated and flabby. I could also benefit from some sort of spray-on tan as well. Is there a spray-on tan camp at BRC?

My first year I lost ten pounds! No time/thought to eat, and drank more water than necessary. I walked on clouds for months after! :D

Uh-ohhhh.... Dear old Jean-next-door just brought over the annual Big Tray of home baked Norwegian Christmas cookies.

I weighed 199.9 on the gym scale at 6 pm yesterday. But now I'm in deep trouble!

Elliot, any number that doesn't begin with a 2 (or higher) is a good number.

Darn right. But I'm looking at a couple of pounds of cookies here. They'll push me directly into the "3-range" for sure!

Give them away! That can be ALMOST as satisfying as eating them yourself.

Well I stepped on the scale and I've lost 4#...
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Yikes! Maryanimal is losing fat, and all I'm losing is our contest! Apparently due to the Christmas Cookie Conundrum a couple of days ago, which I solved by eating them all in one day, I'm stuck around 200.

I may need to peel off an awful lot of clothes to catch up with Marianimal on the scale at Weigh In. This could get ugly.

All right... trying to think that far, now that I'm more awake. (I even did some Morning Exercises. The "spare tire" shall be flattened!)

Obviously, the appropriate award at a weight loss contest is food!
The victor would be presented with something delightfully fattening -- and, this being Burning Man, perhaps otherwise sinful.

Also obviously, there will be no New Years Eve webcast -- if only because the only folks who might watch would be those guys who never leave their computer in their mother's basement. But an Award Ceremony on Playa in late August is just as obviously called for. That would also give us eight more months for the next tier of fitness improvements -- with a corresponding brand new weigh-in!

(Note to self: Build a simple people-size balance scale.)

On Wednesday, gave in and tried the recumbent bike at the gym for the first time in at least a decade. I'd had an overly poor attitude about the possibility of getting a good workout from it because I'm stubborn, and want to run (dammit) . . . but the foot still won't let me. (Maybe these boots I'm wearing are too flat, even in their roominess. Must investigate.) I had also hesitated to try the recumbent bike because I thought might hurt my knees if I cranked it up to the level necessary to break a sweat.

However, it would appear that I need to do less presuming and assuming, and do more experimenting. While it did take me longer to start feeling tired than with running or any other aerobic gym exercise, it eventually kicked my ass, and I don't seem to have hurt my feet or knees . . . so I'm doing it again tonight.

I'm happy if I can get out of bed to pee. Oh, and peeing itself is nice.

All kinds of water weight with the surgery, so I'm on hiatus. The scar is a good six inches down my belly.

I'm glad you can pee. :)

(Reading about Kathy Griffin's inability to pee after surgery scarred me for life.)

I think reading about Kathy Gifford in general leads to that danger.

Never Gifford! Never!

But I enjoyed (redhead comedienne) Kathy Griffin's Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin much more than I expected.

So.. WOW.

I finally broke down and gave into the juicing craze, and let me tell you.. in just 5 days I've seen a total transformation in my waistline and health. Incredible. I totally quit my 6 cup a day coffee habit, everything. I can't recommend it enough.

For $30 with free shipping on Amazon, you can get yourself a quality juicer. Load up on carrots, beets, broccoli, ginger, pears, celery, etc.. and get busy. 8 - 12 oz for breakfast and lunch with a quality dinner, and I promise results.. quickly.

Try it!

I have a juicer.

However, mixing egg nog and dark rum in it may not be a plus for fitness.

Since my visit to this vegan place, I have been wanting an industrial quality juicer. Juice diet is fantastic!
Try apple and fennel (highly recommended by the cute guy at Whole Foods, who was super toned below all that clothing and had great abs... pause... what was I saying... yeah, yeah, try apple and fennel)
