I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

Say Sput, you free this evening? I know it's Sunday and kind of late notice and all, but if you could just see your way to catching a flight to the Emerald City, I think Notthat1 and I could use some backup later tonight.

You like tequila, right? Of course you do, what the hell am I thinking? Anyhoo, I'll pick you up at Sea-Tac at about 10pm.

Bring comfortable shoes.

OK Sensei. I'm going to give you a whole week's notice. Next Sunday evening we are having an event here that you should not miss. Be here!
It's going to be alright.

(CLARK shakes the dust out of his hair, changes the filter and starts to brew a fresh carafe of java...) Quick question. I remember using this tip before on the playa (to fairly good accuracy) to gauge the amount of sunlight left, but clarity:
Hold your hand out far vertically like trying to block out the light. Have the edge of the pinky touch the surrounding mountain peak (the one the Sun's going down behind) Each finger width is 15 minutes of sunlight(?) Stack the other hand on top and over & over til' you reach the rim of the Sun (i.e- Three vertical hand widths = 3 hours, one hand = 1 hour, etc.) Question is: Is each finger width 15 minutes? (more/less?)
(slurp's on coffee, waiting for pizza and about to watch "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory"...(the ORIGINAL one 8)

More or less correct. When I camped with Ubercarney the rule was to be back in camp at 3 fingers above the mountain for cocktails before dinner.

Speaking of which...time for a drink.
It's going to be alright.

(A dust devil kicks up in the corner of the Bar, dust and lightning cloud. CLARK Re-teleports after a long walk from the New Jersey turnpike...) Snap! The net threw me into a restart :D Grabs one of the whisk's off the table, slow sippin'. Thanks Mozy! Getting ready to go to work, pounding coffee...and daydreaming. I have tried to *will* myself about not thinking about the trip, as no work would get done---I'd just stand there, eyes open or closed and d a z e. I've been hearing about other vacations that people are coming back from--small trips to a mall or staying in town to camp. I am snickering on the inside, and I struggle not to be giddy and think "suckers". I try not to talk about the desert to much in the breakroom (they just stare at me, with a :? ) But even that's hard, as one of my campmates works the same shift as I, and he'll mention weird shit with a glow and a twinkle in his eyes and say "Remember?" Yes. Yes I do remember. And I go out again to remember...(grabs another whisk) No photographs. No writing. Just m e m o r i e s is all we have :)
