I'm starting my experimental processing to use WMO as or with diesel fuel.
WMO, to centrifuge (1200g's), clean to lower container (in bucket), un-spun in upper container on table under centrifuge.

water and metal "ooze", remaining in centrifuge bowl, after "cleaned"oil is spun out.

Remember to dry the hoses in between uses. Otherwise, they rot. That's what the towers are for.

I think Fishy means the fire hoses for the truck - they rot if you don't hang them up to keep small amounts of water from pooling. (then there is the obvious "rotten Hoes" reference)

oh, ok.......yeah. I did know that, but, thanks for the reminder.
I thought the reference was to my post with the centrifuge, which was immediatly prior to the hose statement.

Ahhh Ygmir, nice truck. A snub nose Pierce Dash pumper was the first fire apparatus I trained with and operated. What brand is this one? And yes, the top mounted master streams are fun but can suck your tank dry quite rapidly. What size is the water tank? Metal or poly? poly is better as the metal tanks especially on older rigs can and/or will leak. Probably not critical in your situation, but can be an annoyance especially if its lower down in the tank.

BTW, my department for the 7-8 years I was on before we had new stations with hose towers built, simply drained them and then laid them out on the apparatus bay for a day or 2 and then rolled up before storing, Never had any issue with rot. If I recall a little moisture was ok, helped to keep the inner liner from drying out and cracking. But its been a few years.

You gonna bring that baby to the burn?

I just had a "lesson" on how to operate the truck, but, the fellow was not real familiar with this particular setup.
It's a "Mack" firetuck, if that helps.

Two light bars of unknown origin and condition. One of them works at least partially. I have not figured out why there are three wires. I'll try the other tomorrow.

I had my first "get acquainted" lesson, from a fireman this morning.....
it has a 1500 GPM pump............dang.....250PSI.

but, it'll empty the onboard 750 gal. tank using the water cannon in less than a minute........hahaha, gotta have backup water, for water fights.

I've been throwing junk away lately -- too much Stuff and not enough space. Somehow the light bars made it thru the first culling.

Sounds like you need a trailer with a couple thousand gallons on it, Ygmir. Well... as much as the truck can pull up the steepest hills around there. Water weighs something like 8 pounds per gallon, IIRC.

Courious, what kind of engine dose it have? I'm sure a diesel but a Detroit Diesel, Cat, Mack etc?

one of mine is a "White" the other a "Continental", but, exactly the same, and compression fire, ala standard diesel engines.
they have a pre-chamber, and, higher than normal compression (IIRC 22:1).
the multi fuel aspect comes from a combination of this, and, a "fuel density compensator", which can (when hooked up) adjust injector settings to accommodate whatever fuel is flowing.
Liquid fuels, (as I understand it) have a direct correlation between flash point, calories, and viscosity.
The engines were made, with WWIII in mind, in that, no fuel depots, but, you could fill the fuel tank from a crank case, turpentine from a paint store, or anything burnable, and still run, maybe not real well, but, still move.
There's also an "improvised fuel" manual, giving guidelines for mixing gasoline (or other light fuels) with crank case or rear end oil, to approximate diesel.

I have the wiring figured out on the light bars. One bar works perfectly -- all four lights shine and rotate. On the other, one rotator does not turn, but I got an other working by just knocking on it, so I figure the last one can be brought to life also.

Now for New Junk:

These two trailers "followed me home" this year. The black one is a very heavy duty boat trailer with some rust. The white one is the chassis from a camping trailer.
Good thing there are no windows in the rear of the house behind me.

Correct about the trailers. I have only the foggiest of plans for them -- yes, possible future use, whole or parts, for me or someone else. I believe I inherited this disease of "kindness" from my Grandfather. He was a folk artist -- a master at assigning soul to inanimate objects.

Mack I'm familiar with in name only, we used mostly Pierce. 2 engines/pumpers, 2 pumper/tankers ea with 3500 g tanks, those were some fun monsters to drive, thankfully nicely baffled. When we first got the tankers, they had 2 toggle switches in the rear to operate the side newton dumps, when the power on the truck was off, nothing happened if the switch was left in the on position. Which somebody did. The person who started the truck after that was assuredly dismayed to watch 3500 gallons dump out onto the apparatus bay. Shortly after, the Chief had those switches changed to deadmans switches

An no, it wasn;t me who flipped the switch, but I sure fantasized about it

We also had 2 brush trucks built on chevy full sized pickups as well as a medium duty rescue and a mod ambulance.

Here's a link for ya, we used to get stuff on the FD from here, I've bought some stuff from them as well Heiman Fire Equipment

1.5" line work great for one person, especially a guy your size. 2.5" is a bit more to handle, keep your psi lower for that one.

Yep, I do remember the water buffalos as well
