Anyone know anything about Airstreams?
Mine does fine.
Should be 5000 dry weight.
I haven't done much distance with it, but everyone says it's the easiest tow they've done for the size.
The only lighter trailers equipped like these are the older magnesium and aluminum framed ones, that I know of.
Or you could furnish a trailex.
By 1969 they had steel frames like mine.
The upper monocoque is aluminum.
Did you add any heavy furniture?
Most of the stock stuff is very light.

Happy Happy!!! LOL
Need to re-do couch and pull carpet. They were smokers and we aren't so it's a bit stinky, but WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!
Have to run and go finish my honey-do list. Mean of ken-doll to get me this new toy then give me all these chores that keep me from playing in it.

Nice.
Are you missing the bed cushions?
I have the layout with the bath in the middle.
Very familiar though.
If you get the aluminum tanks, they make a difference in weight right on the tongue.
Looks like you have the older lighting.
Let me know when you want to upgrade.
There are a few non-electrical vented radiant propane heaters out there.
Do not use the unvented style.
You can cut down on electrical draw and get rid of the blower noise most of the time.
I plan on adding quartz radiant heat for on grid use too.
Very effective for this application.
Looks clean.
I was shocked when my broiler worked perfectly after so many years.
In fact, better than any I've ever had.
I have a dometic microwave to go in there too.
Side turn signals are well worth the effort of adding, by the way.
I don't think yours came with them.
Check out the trailer life books on the systems.
Happy trailering!

I know some places that can custom cut foam for you, and not the cheap stuff, but the proper flame retarding material.tamarakay wrote:Happy Happy!!! LOL

LALALA!
No, that's Jake and he's been ours for a couple years. Lots of people dump strays in the country and usually we find homes for them, but Jake kept coming back. He is wicked smart.
Gyre - we have a place here in the burg that does this sort of thing for a living. City Mattress Factory. Their foam is about like tempurpedic foam. We've ordered other cushions and things from them before.
The twin beds in the middle are missing their mattresses but we will probably only get one made and use it as the couch, and use the other area for storage. I want to find fabric that is very close to the original cause the goldness is wonderful with the light coming in.

Just make sure it's fire resistant.
The place I have some from, uses a fundamentally different type of material created using a vacuum.
They claim it never degrades.
It's a hospital grade, like the spare mattresses I have.
They come with a cover, unless ordered raw.
Some even have adjustable tension at the foot.
And different foam on the edge and middle.

Not all Kendolls are gender neutral
I've been trying to convince Kendoll to pose with various things "conveniently" blocking his dangly bits, but he won't play.

I pulled her for two thousand miles one summer. All over the Rockies... come to think about it she was fine on the flats, but the mountain passes were where she became difficult.gyre wrote:Mine does fine.

I run two forties (which fit the original rack) and carry the thirties as spares when I'm on the road.gyre wrote:Two 30s are standard.
Some have three.
I can't answer for the playa.
Too far to think about towing out there.

We have the two tanks that came with the trailer and then also have the two tanks we bought for the little trailer we gave up on. We have decided to continue working on the little trailer (you can see the edge of it in one of the pictures) as a project, and since we aren't taking it too burningman we can take our time with it. It is cute, but needs more work than we can afford to have done, or have time to do ourselves, before the burn.
Flooring is ordered and we are picking out fabric for the couch/bed in front. Ken is such an 80 year old woman when it comes to upholstery. Found the covers for the twin beds folded up in a drawer. It looks like they were taken off and put away right after purchase. Just need a good cleaning.
So far mechanical/plumbing systems are checking out fine.
As soon as we get the couch/bed back we are headed out for a long weekend. Woohooo!

We have it at the trailer guy's place. he's giving it a once over for us, but so far everything is CHEAPLY fixed, all small things.
Sofa is at the reupholsterer and should be ready this week. Curtains came back from cleaner without shredding. If we get it back by this weekend we will put the flooring in Saturday.
First traveling overnighter will be weekend of June 18. Grandkids birthday party in Athens! Woot!

Re: Anyone know anything about Airstreams?
we reupholstered the couch! We have fabric to fit the little squares in the bottom corner, but I haven't stapled them on yet. I've been too busy sewing skirts for my sparkle stallion.
