Translation - the answer is "NO" camp boss pyro would not stay at such a low class joint. Maybe you should try to get a deal at one of the big corporate hotels up the street - and for all the complaining on eplaya about Circus Circus that would be a huge improvement over the regency.......BUT of course what does it matter if you arn't there.

Walked by the Sands last night - looks like someone had their car window broken out over by the pool. Maybe it's a good idea to keep the rift-raft over in that part of town anyway.

the sands was AWESOME! the drink prices were ridic cheap, they gave us early check in and late check out and the fucking hot tub party was almost as fun as the burn itself.

I couldn't get into the hot tub tuesday night since it was full. Actually, it was packed with people that just had there legs dangling in. Just as good, the water looked like hippy soup by that point.

It was much better in the morning

The Sands was pretty terrible, room-wise. I wouldn't stay there again under other circumstances. My first room had no blanket on the bed, the shower curtain was a thin piece of polyester and the floor was fairly flooded after my shower. Be sure to bring your own shampoo and soap (yeah, yeah, radical self-reliance, blah blah blah, but no, really, at least have your own soap). Second room had blanket, of sorts, but the bed was made with just a flat sheet (no fitted sheet). Also, no coffee in the room or free internet. There was no hot water the morning I left, in the shower. I ain't fancy, I usually go for the cheapest, so I'm not trying to compare it to swank places. Just listing my experience.

The bell captain guy was so horribly rude it was funny.

But it was clean. Location was good, for walking around downtown (as opposed to being stranded at the Sierra). I went to CircusCircus for dinner, and have no idea why people have said it's the worst place in town. Saw no difference between the level of cleanliness (CC v Sands), and the rooms were nearly identical.

CC had a lot more kids. Sands was a lot more sad people staring at slots.

But, for the downtown location and $1.50 drinks...Sands was alright.

I had a great stay at the Sands the night before I drove out to the playa! I won $55 off of my first $1 bet on a slot machine (betting 1 cent too), and I got a free Sierra Nevada. Needless to say I quit while I was ahead and went to the reservation counter and got myself a room - burner discount of course!! I went back to the casino to get a couple more drinks and got a great night of sleep before my last day in Reno. Thanks Doc Pyro and BDC!!
