Exactly! Not only that, 1.7 million or whatever they make will pave about 1 feet of road, lol.

If they ever do get the funding and land they should start construction August 1st just to spite this community.

i start off first by saying i have been attending burning man since 99 and i have seen 3-5 hour plus exodus lines from day one.in 99 the population on the playa was about 20,000 people and we still waited 3 hours to get out onto the main road.that year we had rented a RV with 10 people carpooling to burning man.there has only been two years in the 15 that i have been going that i got out on the highway in less then a hour.there was one year that a back gate was open at the 10'oclock position on the playa with cars streaming out onto the highway and in 2012 when we left at "ELEVEN" in the afternoon(don't ask me how it was pure luck……)and made it to the highway in about a half hour.
as for carpooling i have not been to the playa with no less then 2 people in my truck at any given year.most if not ALL people in line getting into the burn are ALREADY carpooling into the burn.now it is not to say the there a few people going solo to burning man because of "what ever reason".
with that said "i call BULLSHIT"….. also. if you want people to carpool it is already happening and has been since day one.if you want to limit the cars on the roads and into burning man.then just reduce the number of tickets to be sold maybe in half or by 2/3 to 30,000 or 20,000 people.
but that will never happen….why?????because this is not about limiting the number of cars or making people carpool.it is about creating more money and revenue for burning man/larry plain and simple…..

Great first post!
Did you see the lines of cars that stretched all the way to Empire? Many of the cars had only a single person in them. The hope is that people will offer rides to others and carpool as tightly as possible.
I used the story before about people allowed to leave and return to the event many years back, and it was abused to the point of causing huge lines to return in. A $20 fee was added for leaving and returning, and it caused people to plan ahead and only leave if it was important enough to spend $20.
I hope the $40 per car fee eases up on the choking lines that are threatening the event.
Oh, and welcome to eplaya. I hope you get a chance to introduce yourself and make yourself at home here!

Sham....

Oh man, can you imagine them limiting the tickets to 1/2 or 1/3rd the amount? The lines would be out to ePlaya in terms of endless thread bitching. And to think people are horrified with the prospect of running out of vehicle passes.
