That's annoying.
Is that on the merc?

I have a hell of a time finding the better clutches for domestics, that actually react to temperature rather than friction.
Or is yours electric?

There is a nice one for diesels now that keeps the temperature up to snuff.
All computer controlled.

yeah, and, it's a diesel.
nope, not electric, just a thermal/viscous fluid clutch.

I'm good with OEM stuff (for MBZ's).....seems the money they pay those engineers, to make stuff work, is more than they'd pay me to change them.

I"m not so sure I'd use computer controlled for that....to much chance of failure from electronics......my vehicles are all old, but simple........to me, more computers means more stuff I can't fix, and, is expensive.

I'm sure the factory stuff is good on those.

They have computers in tanks that you can hammer on, so it all depends.
A temperature control is going to be relatively simple and stupid, and pretty easily protected.
They came out with the one I'm thinking of for ford trucks first.
They are claiming a big efficiency increase by keeping the temperature closer to optimum.
Don't want a cold diesel.

A friend of mine put a controller on his radiator and oil cooler (separates)
to keep the heat up and gained 10% power consistently.
He runs the oil at 260.
Not a diesel in that case.

yeah, diesels run best, when, as hot as practical.......it's that fine line between perfect, and, warped/cracked head........

for a 24 year old car, with 240K on it, weighs 3800 lbs (approx.) and still get around 30 mpg on the highway.......I think it's doing fine.
and, no computer controls.

hi everyone...

have huge weekend of busy activities and I am just sitting here....fighting the tears.

Im waiting for my Vet to call me today with the rest of Balue's(our GS) blood tests to come back.So far they have ruled out cancer.

He has somehow come down with a autoimmune issue?

Some of the things Ive been looking up whilst very impatiently awaiting the test results, are pretty scary.
And when I gaze into his eyes he looks so pathetic. ::SOB::

He's 7 yrs old, and in doggie years apparently vets consider that elderly.
As far as surgeries and the such.
I thought it was just a really bad case of bloody periodontal, needing a deep clean.

My first GS was 14 when he died in his sleep. A good long life, even with a hereditary issue of hip displasia that never happened.

I wanna be Pinemom right now! I want her strength and her patience and her determination and I cant find it in my breaking heart.

I am an optimist though...and I will put all my energies into the idea that this is just a small bout of temporary autoimmunity issue and it will go away.

i gotta go blow my nose now. ya'll have a great friday...see some of you up here on Sunday.

~Namaste~
Names pinemom, but my friends call me "Piney".

that, dear friend, is heartbreaking.
I so hope you are right, that, it's a temporary thing, in an aging dog.
He's such a dear friend.

Dang and double dang.

Impressive mileage, for sure.

The payoff for electronics comes when you want adjustability or multiple commands.
If you're running a precise temperature control, you want more than just an on/off switch.
I've designed wired multiple command devices before and cost climbs alarmingly.
(As an example, I have a computer the size of a pack of cigarettes that can take 260 separate or chained commands and stores them without power. Cost around $100 new. It would take hundreds of relays to duplicate it and I don't want to think about rewiring to change commands.)

Solid state computers (without hard drives) can be dead stable internally.
Usually if one has inadequate shock mounting or design, it is simple to fix if desired.
Heat is the only real enemy.
Mounting location is usually the important thing.

Hot rodders cooked a lot of ford factory fuel injection controls, until they started relocating them.
Even stock, they never fail when mounted inside.
Ford later followed this practice.
A determined person could pot and heat sink them to tolerate tremendous abuse though.

I abhor unreliability myself, especially in cars.
The issue I've been fighting for so long in my car, now seems to be an electrical switch.
Purely mechanical.

morning all, any coffee left to go with this Jack?

~stretch~ still in LA damnit, headed back out to the desert for the weekend, and back sunday night for a job on Monday.

Anybody want to come out, and hang this weekend? It will be beautiful and right on the edge of getting hot.

I'm thinking about another Summer solstice party in June, anyone interested?

uh, hi. This seat taken? thanks. It looks like I'm on a roll, eplaya wise. Just can't stay away. Usually this doesn't happen until July. So I thought I'd drop in here for a howdy and a coffee. I'll make a fresh pot. Anybody want a warm up?

Pinemom, best wishes for Balue. I'd feel horrible if my doggies were sick. Here's a hug for you, too.

Here's a bumper sticker I saw this morning for ya:
I pray to be as good a person as my dog thinks I am.

I hope to make some serious progress on Pigarus this weekend. It's a little too cold for the epoxy resin to set, but maybe I can work something out with heaters.

Well, gotta run, back to work. Heh heh, "back". Not so much productive today.
