Hey, Misa, I'm in for the coffee and slide over in the NEB cause here I come. Better not bring a sticky bun into the NEB or we'll all have stickey buns. They look great, Sput. Give Piney and TITWI a hug for me, YG. Good to see you AntiM! Won't be long and we'll be back home in Hushville.
Was on the playa last weekend and from what I could tell, it will be a good year for biking. It seemed quite hard and smooth. I learned that it is 65% clay. I brougt home a quart container of the surface clay and will separate the sediment from the clay and see how it fires in my kiln. I'll let you all know
Had a wonderful Tiramisu in San Francisco last night on Chestnut St. All the young folks out on the street doing the mating dance. Incredible energy. Almost felt I was at the Burn (but with more clothing).
Gotta go beat the dreaded yellow ball again this AM
See ya!

*don's chef outfit, to cook for Dougly*
what'll it be, Dougly?

hey there Marty.........*pats pillow in NEB*........I know, I know.........Misa is who you want to snuggle in next to........*moves over*...........
I'll be interested in hearing how the playa does in your kiln........I note, GH melts it with that Frenzel lens, and, it turns to black "glass".......I think about 1200 deg. F?
Not sure, though.
How hot does your kiln go?
With the amount of tennis you play, you're name, might be "ball whacker"...........but, then again, that might lead down a path you'd not want to follow..........hahahaaaa

Morning all! looks like we have a good bar repast this morning. Misa, I have always been a fan of hot soup for breakfast. My sister used to ask my mother to make me "stop eating that" since she felt the smell spoiled her cold cereal experience. I got some strawberries from my corner guy at the four way stop by the park... he's always there with a few flats of strawberries and some bags of oranges. Went to open studios east bay yesterday and saw lots of neat art and very cool work spaces. I got a card from a photographer that has 2 fully equipped g.i. joes standing over a squirrel on the side of the road. Some very humorous art, and some look at for hours and days art as well, some live music too. Nice weather, nice day with old friends.

Hi Elorrum! The strawberries looks great!!! Great snack to serve them with a heavy cream ...yum yum...
Soup for the morning is nice from time to time:) I agree with you.
The garlic soup was meant to be more as "rescuer" today....it is one of the best medicines for afterparty/drinking stomach
Recepie to get better with hangover is to get garlic soup or curing pickle...but curing pickle is not the best thing to offer for breakfast ha ha ha...
Anyway...beautiful sunny day here, Friday temperatue 50°F changed to todays 82°F...it is time for glass of something cool...
...my choice is Mojito...

...enough for all!!!...

My kiln fires to about 2150 F which is cone 6 in potter jargon. I liquified the material that I got on the playa and allowed the sediment or non clay material to setttle to the bottom. I then decanted the suspended clay into another bucket and now must wait for that to settle. Clear water will rise to the top and I will decant that in about a week. Then I will have a fairly concentrated batch of very wet clay. We'll let that dry for a bit until it gets back to that very sticky state we all know so well if we step in a wet spot following a water truck. At that point, I will try a few experiments with the playa dust clay and will let you know what happens. Hopefully I'll have some fired samples with me on the playa.
YG, you are right, Misa has a bit more appeal to me in the NEB than you do, Please do not take offence, you are a very dear man, but WTF. Sometinmes I get really lucky and Little Flower joins me in the NEB with a few of the other ladies and then I start to sing "Heaven, I'm in Heaven!"
Dougly, I'm really sorry that I did not get to the Burner picnic on Saturday. It would have been fun to see you there. I thought of going but got too tired from too much tennis earlier in the day. And yes, I guess that I am a ball whacker, YG.
Just finished the first step in making my Playa Schawg. Still have to glaze the pendants and fire them and I'll be done.
Have a good evening one and all

I'm told that the playa "dirt" is 65% clay with the rest sediment. The sediment settles to the bottom of the bucket immediately since it is a far larger particle size and much heavier. The clay stays on top. I've saved the sediment, because I am a saver and want to see what it looks like after all the water is decanted and it gets dry. I'l let you know. No, I haven't seen GH's beads, but hope to when we get home!!!
Get out and get some fresh air in your lungs after all those paint fumes. Be careful!!!
Hope to hear you in the box at the Artery meeting on Thursday.
