I was watching that saying to myself "I sure hope this is scripted", but somehow I suspect it wasn't.

LOL, well unlike a regular a web site I'm not sure page top real estate on this forum is any better than anyplace else here but I'd gladly trade my luck for landing there for some luck with other aspects of my life.

Having the top thread is sorta like a rabbits foot or a four leaf clover, its a good luck charm while it lasts.

Interesting, but apparently this luck only manifests as being lucky to get more top page posts without trying - I had another top page post in another thread this morning.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/ ... story.html
An incendiary remark by Rick Santorum’s biggest financial backer illustrates one of the key dangers posed by a new breed of outside political groups: their ability to cause problems for the candidates they’re trying to help.

Foster Friess, a millionaire Wyoming investor bankrolling a pro-Santorum group, caused an uproar this week by wading into the contraception debate with a crude quip about women’s sexuality.

“You know, back in my days, they’d use Bayer aspirin for contraceptives,” Friess said on MSNBC. “The gals put it between their knees and it wasn’t that costly.”
I love it how comic book villians are stepping into politics.

KENTUCKY MEAT SHOWER

Post by knowmad » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:28 am

Image

On March 3, 1876 in a 100 by 50 yard area near Olympia Springs, Bath County, Kentucky, large chunks of red meat fell from the sky for a period of a couple of minutes. The phenomenon which was referred to as the Kentucky meat shower was reported by the New York Times and several other publications at the time.

Apparently the meat appeared to be beef, but two locals who tasted it stated that it tasted like mutton or venison.

Initially, the "meat" was identified by a Mr. Leopold Brandeis writing in the Sanitarian as Nostoc, which he described as a type of vegetable matter. When Brandeis passed the meat sample to the Newark Scientific Association for further analysis, this lead to a letter from Dr. Allan McLane Hamilton appearing in the publication Medical Record stating that the meat had been identified as lung tissue from either a horse or a human infant ("the structure of the organ in these two cases being very similar.") The makeup of this sample was backed up by further analysis, with two samples of the meat being identified as lung tissue, three samples were of muscle tissue, and two of cartilage.

Out of the many theories for an explanation of this phenomenon, the most likely appears to be that a large pack of buzzards flew over the area after having eaten a couple of freshly dead horses, and when one of them spontaneously disgorged itself, all the others (as apparently is customary amongst buzzards), followed suit.

Other less conventional explanations were put forward, including author William Livingston Alden stating that "cosmic meat" was floating around in space that would drop through our atmosphere similarly to meteorites.

And in the same book as the "cosmic meat" theory comes this rather gruesome theory: "finely-hashed citizens of Kentucky, who had been caught up in a whirlwind while engaged in a little 'difficulty' with bowie knives, and strewn over their astonished state.

...and exactly 7 days after the Kentucky Meat Shower, the telephone was invented. The same amount of time it took God to create the earth. Coincidence? I think not!
The telephone was invented March 10, 1876. The famous incident in which Alexander Graham Bell spilled acid on himself and called out to his assistant, Watson, not realizing his voice was being carried over the telephone.

Hun, it was a book first... back in 1952 :P

Ghibli just put a new spin on it. I love their films. If you like animated features, check them out. Spirited Away is one of their more well known ones.

I didn't watch the whole thing, but really, Japan is part of the Hollywood Liberal Media? If these people spent more time looking at the Atlas and less time digging out conspiracies, the country would be a better place.

I'm dreaming of a Yuma...

Post by theCryptofishist » Fri Mar 02, 2012 2:37 pm

I'm dreaming of a Yuma...

where the city, businesses, & private property owners keep a high level of maintenance and care to reflect a high level of pride in their city
where the city is graffiti free (any graffiti is covered within 24 hours with paint that matches the wall, so it disappears)
where all city staff notes violations while in the field and report concerns to appropriate department to resolve
where the traffic in the city flows easily without congestion
with more wind and solar power used
with an event center
with more law enforcement
with a paved, lit and striped parking lot and wrought iron fencing along Arroyo Dunes Golf Course
with no additional railroad at the port of entry
with other amenities for walking paths
with a city gathering place
with signs directing and highlighting Roxaboxen Park
with laws for enforcing illegal dumping
with more solar energy used to supply power to government and commercial buildings
with a vibrant downtown
with no urban sprawl
with turbines for wind energy
with higher teacher salaries
where county pockets located within city limits have been annexed
with a greater focus on senior activities
with an ice skating rink
with more occupational explanation for youth
with an exceptional education environment in and out of school
with a more accurate and comprehensive newspaper
with more major league baseball exhibition games
with no significant increase in size
with more of a focus on children
with garbage being recycled instead of deposited at a landfill
with recycling programs
with photo cameras to stop red-light runners

Exactly. I am sure it made sense to someone's braincells, however breifly.

A Chinese friend of mine pointed out a tattoo on the neck of a too cool hipster. He said the ideogram meant "stupid".
I looked it up and sure enough, he was right.
