Newbie from NY looking for their first burn.

Post by MikeyP » Tue Oct 22, 2019 10:18 am

Hi Everyone,

I've been doing my homework and have decided to stop sitting on the fence and make 2020 my first burn.. I've been on a bit of a personal journey of self-improvement and enlightenment, and I've been trying to forge new connections with people (including and especially new people) and to the world around me.

As it stands now I have one friend who may join me, though that could change as we get closer. Hopefully I'll find a camp to join, but I know I still have miles to go before I can say that I'm "ready".

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this more than I've looked forward to a lot of things.

Hola and hello...

It’s good to start declaring and planning early. Find your regionals and start going to meet ups, etc. think about what skills you may be able to offer to a camp, look at past camps and see what might be a good fit. Good luck and see ya in the dust
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Welcome - the event has many first time burners each year and we want them to be prepared, have a fine experience, and return as veterans.

As others have mentioned, your regional, packing lists, planning, and Q&A on ePlaya.

welcome! start packing . literally. set aside some things you plan to take to burning man. physically set them aside. then start to think about how you are getting there.

welcome! I'm also a newbie from New York, hailing from Long Island. I'll be driving out there next year in my cruze. See you in the dust!

Thanks everyone! I went to a NYC regional happy hour back in October to start meeting some folks and hope to hit another one this month.
Good advice on starting packing some stuff now, I'll see if I can find some things that I can start putting aside ASAP.

Awesome, best of luck with the drive. Are you hoping to find a camp beforehand?
