does anybody know anything about that? a camp called Playa Que or Crew, set up on Esplanade and somewhere between 2:30 to 3:30, next to the Gasso, cooks very elaborate lunches and dinners, that you have to PAY for in advance of the Burning Man.
we had a misfortune of passing them around dinner time, it smelled fantastic, we cued up with other people only to be told by someone in the line that it's a pre-paid VERY expensive meal and basically if we did not have tickets we had to leave.
i don't care about the meal, but i am still shocked about such non-BM experience at the Burning Man.
otherwise, it was amazing!!!!

Re: Pre-Paid meals at the BRC by Playa Que
They brought (and paid for) a lot of pork to the PlayaQ and there were several days where they fed all who showed up, and even went out into the streets calling for people to come eat. On other days they fed the people who helped contribute to their presence in BRC.Emane wrote: we had a misfortune of passing them around dinner time, it smelled fantastic, we cued up with other people only to be told by someone in the line that it's a pre-paid VERY expensive meal and basically if we did not have tickets we had to leave.
Seems pretty reasonable to me, and they were definately very generous the times we came by. Always worth the wait!

It's Playa-Que like "Barbe-que." A bunch of my camp went there - one volunteered and gave her free meals to some other of our campmates. Basically they were barbequeing lots of weird stuff, ostrich, buffalo, whatever animals you could name... They liked my installation so they invited me to come eat lunch... but I don't eat red meat so I didn't go. But I get the impression that they were pretty generous with their stuff. I wish I'd shown up just to say hi, but there are a hundred other opportunities that I missed (an invitation to sample the wares at Wawa camp/that girl Carly whom I saw only at the beginning and end of the festival/that green sculpture near the trash fence on the 10:00 side which looked kind of unassuming but apparently vibrated when you got near it and touched it in different ways) so whatever, thus is burning man. But I feel bad to (implicitly) reject the Playa-Que's offer. If I ate it I would definitely come over for the pulled pork...
