Factual errors in Burn History of new Burning Man calendar

Post by Piss Clear » Thu Sep 08, 2005 11:28 am

So I just got my new 2005-2006 Burning Man calendar, and I'm looking over the Burn History timeline. And there's Piss Clear!

While I'm honored and flattered that Piss Clear made it into the Burn History timeline, I'm troubled by the fact that the listing is WRONG. It's listed as being first published in 1994 – however, Piss Clear did not make its first appearance on the playa until 1995. This is all easy information to fact-check, seeing as that every issue has a date on it, and they're all archived at the Piss Clear web site.

Annoying, but not nearly as bad as credited it to someone named "Adrian Stinson." Who? My name is "Adrian Roberts" – again, it's printed in every single issue. Damn, I've been publishing this newspaper for eleven fucking years! You'd think they'd at least get my name right!

And you know, this got me thinking: if they got THESE things wrong, how much else is wrong in the Burn History timeline?

Certainly, the "history" is somewhat white-washed. No mention of the "first death related to Burning Man event" (Michael Fury, 1996), that's for sure!
